Two samples of Pogostemon benghalensis Burm. F. collected from different altitudes of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand have been analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The inflorescence oil of sample I contained β-bisabolene (18%), ( E)-β-ocimene (3.7%), and 1-octen-3-ol (2.7%), but the leaf oil showed a high elemol content (20.5%), along with β-caryophyllene (12.5%), β-copaen-4α-ol (7.7%), α-humulene (4%), and linalool (2.1%). In contrast, the inflorescence oil of sample II possessed β-caryophyllene (15.2%), β-copaen-4α-ol (9.6%), and β-bisabolene (8%), while ( E)-β-ocimene (5.2%), elemol (4%), α-guaiene

Abstract:
Hydrodistillation of the flowers (BpFl) of and fruits (BpFr) of Bupleurum fontanesii Guss. ex Caruel gave two oils that were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The main components were α-elemol (16.7%), caryophyllene oxide (16.4%) and heptacosane (15.9%) in BpFl, and spathulenol (16.8%), caryophylladienol I (13.2%) and α-elemol (12.8%) in BpFr. A good antimicrobial activity against several microorganisms, including Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Fusarium oxysporum and Aspergillus niger, all infesting historical art craft, was also determined.

Chemical composition of essential oil isolated from aerial parts of Chenopodium botrys L. (Chenopodiaceae) collected from five different locations in the Republic of Macedonia was analysed by GC/FID/MS. Seventy five compounds were identified representing 90.02- 91.24% of the oil. The essential oil contents of the fruit and roots of Cymbopogon olivieri growing wild in south of Iran were found to be 0.7 % and 0.4% (v/w), respectively based on the fresh weight. Moment resistant frames are mainly used in resisting lateral loads in buildings. During the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, some of these moment steel frame connections could not undergo inelastic deformation which led to many structural damages. New connection systems were proposed and tested which performed better than the pre-Northridge moment frame connections. Reduced beam section (RBS) connection is one of the most widely used connections after the Northridge Earthquake.
