The concept of a convex space is extended to an H-space; that is, a space having certain family of contractible subsets. For such spaces the KKM type theorems, the Fan-Browder fixed point theorem, the Ky Fan type matching theorem, and minimax inequalities are given. Moreover, applications to a von Neumann-Sion type minimax theorem, a saddle point theorem, a quasi-variational inequality, and a Kakutani type fixed point theorem are obtained.

AbstractWe argue that some of Brouwer’s assumptions, rejected by Bishop, should be considered and studied as possible axioms. We show that Brouwer’s Continuity Principle enables one to prove an intuitionistic Borel Hierarchy Theorem. We also explain that Brouwer’s Fan Theorem is useful for a development of the theory of measure and integral different from the one worked out by Bishop. We show that Brouwer’s bar theorem not only proves the Fan Theorem but also a stronger statement that we call the Almost-fan Theorem. Some of the implications have been shown to be strict, others strict in a weak context, and yet others not at all, using disparate techniques. Here we present a family of related Kripke models which separates all of the as yet identified fan theorems.

Social identification theory explains that when an individual comes together with one or more individuals with like-minded interests, they form social bonds. Their shared interests allow them to disseminate Chiefs' information through content gathered from media usage.

If the second relation is solved for U and substituted into the first, it follows that full dynamic similarity is possible only if ΩD2/ν = const. Abstract:
Pseudo-spectral acceleration (PSA) is the most commonly used intensity measure in earthquake engineering as it serves as a simple approximate predictor of structural response for many types of systems. Therefore, most ground-motion models (GMMs, aka GMPEs) provide median and standard deviation PSA using a suite of input parameters characterizing the source, path, and site effects. Unfortunately, PSA is a complex metric: the PSA for a single oscillator frequency depends on the Fourier amplitudes across a range of frequencies. The Fourier amplitude spectrum (FAS) is an appealing alternative beca

Abstract:
Since the 2019 and 2022 terrorist attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand, El Paso, Texas, and Buffalo, New York, both mainstream media and scholarly interest in ecofascism have increased significantly. This policy brief will illustrate how the contemporary far- and extreme right are exploiting the climate crisis and reviving white supremacist environmentalism. Specifically, it will identify recurring linguistic patterns, which construct ecofascist grievances that link environmental degradation to ‘old’ conspiracy theories, such as ‘global Zionism’ or ‘white genocide’. It will also identify the e

Abstract:
Photoinduced electron transfer (PET) is an important process due to its several applications, e.g. solar energy conversion. Flavoproteins are generally selected as a model for the study of PET. In this research, effect of charge at residue 13 on the PET from Trp32, Tyr35 and Try106 to an excited isoalloxazine (Iso*) in FMN binding protein (FBP) from Desulfovibrio vulgaris (Miyazaki F) was studied. A wild type (E13 with negative charge) and four mutations of FBP at residue 13, E13K and E13R (politive charge), E13T and E13Q (neutral charge), were subjected to molecular dynamics (MD) simulations,

The international Forest & Landscape program, taught at SLU at Bachelor level, began in 2021. In its essence, the program tries to combine the very best from forestry and landscape management. This unique program gives in-depth knowledge of forests and landscapes, taking a holistic approach to trees and forests and their importance to society, by focusing on the different perspectives of the forested landscapes and the management of them. Students are expected to gain adequate knowledge to work as e.g. a specialist or advisor at governmental authorities, municipalities, forestry companies,

This article weaves together literature to theorise whatu – the traditional Māori practice of weaving used to make cloaks – as a toi Māori (Māori arts) pedagogy. In its simplest form, pedagogy can be understood as the deliberate processes by which knowledge, attitudes or skills are conveyed (Miller & Findlay, 1996), the systemised learning principles or ‘methods’ of teaching (Good & Merkel, 1973), or how and why we teach the way we do. Internationally renowned scholars of pedagogy such as Piaget, Vygotsky, Brunner and Freire have shaped Western teaching pedagogy and, as such, the ways
