Time-since-fire distribution analysis is used to estimate forest fire frequency for the 1400 km2 Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, located on the west slope of the Rocky Mountains. The time-since-fire distribution indicates three periods of different fire frequency: 1988 to 1928, 1928 to 1788, and before 1788. The fire cycle for the park was > 2700 years for 1988 to 1928, 130 years between 1928 and 1788, and 60 years between 1778 and 1508. Longer fire cycles after 1788 and 1928 may be due, respectively, to cool climate associated with the Little Ice Age and a recent period of higher

In collaboration with Stephenson a model was developed to show the complex motion of the moments in an alternating field and it was found that positive and negative cycles of

Abstract:
Abstract ODS alloys are candidate materials for the critical section in the high temperature heater for indirect fired coal conversion systems, although little has been published on their corrosion characteristics in this situation. Salient features of indirect fired systems are described. Under a European Union COST 501 programme, a natural gas fired ODS alloy heater has been built and operated for a short period as part of a Closed Cycle Gas Turbine Demonstrator. Although the planned environment was clean, a number of critical oxidation related problems emerged during development work associ

Abstract:
Abstract This paper describes efforts to estimate the potential effects of chloridebearing North American coal on fireside corrosion in utility boilers. Chloridebearing North American coal is similar to British coal, and this study draws heavily on published British data and experience. Generally, chloride effects on furnace wall tubes are attributed to chloride-accelerated sulfidation, and the accelerating effect appears to increase with temperature. This study concludes that the tubes most affected are those in contact with incompletely oxidized, sulfur-bearing combustion gases.

Abstract:
This Open File Report provides the available macroseismic information for the seven largest moderate earthquakes that occurred in the Charlevoix Seismic Zone between 1870 and 2021. These earthquakes and their moment magnitude (M) are: 1) February 3, 1902, M 4.5; 2) September 30, 1924, M 5.2; 3) January 08, 1931, M 4.9; 4) October 19, 1939, M 5.3; 5) October 14, 1952, M 4.5; 6) August 19, 1979, M 4.8; 7) March 6, 2005, M 4.7. Five, possibly six, of these seven earthquakes occurred in the northeast portion of the CSZ, where the largest event of the period, the 1925 M 6.2 earthquake, also occurre
