The search for a suitable geologic medium for containing radioactive wastes has raised new interest in the hydrology of fractured rocks. Borehole geophysics can identify fracture systems and even locate saturated fractures, however, it is difficult to locate flow paths based on this information. The development of a novel combined "ultrasonic/thermal" with "ultrasonic multiple reflections" clamp-on meter for measuring a wide flowrate range of clean liquids in small diameter pipes is presented. Current existing flowmeters based on ultrasound cannot measure very low flowrates for single phase liquids.
