Shortage of feed supply of the cattle during the dry season or flood period is an important issue which could be partially met by maize stalk. An experiment was conducted to prepare maize stalk fodder for cattle. The BARI chopper was improved for chopping maize stalk (MS) in smaller size (7-8mm) by adding blades and make the chopper safe by adding casing. The capacity of the BARI chopper was 745 and 425 kg/h with fresh and dried maize stalk, respectively. Total chopping cost per hour was Taka 0.23 per kg. Securing good feed and sustaining production is one of the main pillars of the livestock production sector. However, this is difficult to achieve in many different environments or circumstances. The production of fodder in a hydroponic system allows for sustainable production throughout the year and provides many benefits to the animal. However, ways must be found to improve the quality of hydroponic fodder and extend its shelf life. In this study, hydroponic barley fodder was produced by mixing it with mung bean seeds at different mixing ratios. In addition, silage was prepared from the resul

Fodder grain plays a priority role in ensuring high productivity of farm animals and poultry, revealing their genetic potential. Therefore, it is necessary to use the most advanced methods of grain preservation for the most complete preservation of the original feeding power. Such methods in recent years include the technology of sealed storage of raw fodder grain harvested before the complete maturation phase. Various biological and chemical additives are used to improve the preservation results. The use of such additives (due to the specific features of preserved raw materials) is obligatory

In the FSBI RosNIISK "Rossorgo" research is being conducted on the procurement of canned feed. In 2022, silage from non-traditional fodder crops was laid in laboratory conditions, by self-preservation, without the use of preservatives. We used cereal grasses such as – paiza, chumiza, sorghum-sudank hybrid and legume culture – Lathyrus sativus L. For silage, the plants were cut into a vase of the beginning of the wax ripeness of the grain. Studies have shown that the process of lactic acid fermentation in the silage mass develops with unequal intensity and depends on the botanical composition.

Silage is a fermented feed resulting from preservation method based on natural lactic acid fermentation under anaerobic conditions. Ensiling is a suitable and promising technique for preserving fresh forage with minimal losses which ensures animal feed availability during dry or winter season. Ensiling technology has increased the feeding value of silages. This process is based on lactic acid fermentation under anaerobiosis which preserves the forage in high nutritional value.
