This article is based on empirical evidence about Mexico City, exploring the spatial distribution of illegal property transfer complaints made by the population to government agencies. It describes the role violence plays in forced property transfers in Mexico City, both nationally and locally. It also provides evidence for discussing the normative and material conditions that facilitate or limit criminal justice system participation in resolving these sorts of property-based conflicts. We study the long-run effects of forced migration on investment in education. After World War II, millions of Poles were forcibly uprooted from the Kresy territories of eastern Poland and resettled (primarily) in the newly acquired Western Territories, from which the Germans were expelled. We combine historical censuses with newly collected survey data to show that, while there were no pre-WWII differences in educational attainment, Poles with a family history of forced migration are significantly more educated today than other Poles. Abstract Energy is now considered the primary driving force behind the growth of key economic sectors, particularly energy-intensive industrial sectors. Sudan’s abundant sunshine, averaging 3,000 hours annually, makes it an ideal location for solar power generation. Sudan has a unique chance to diversify its energy mix and decrease its reliance on fossil fuels due to these resources. Sudan has a significant potential for renewable energy, particularly solar and wind power. 65% of its population lives in rural areas. 22.22% of the rural population have electricity access. An experimental procedure for investigating the effect of power distribution on the cooling of a double-sided PCB is implemented. A number of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models are validated by laboratory experiments performed in 19.5°C temperature environment. Case temperatures of surface-mounted components fully populating the PCB sides are measured and monitored in simulations. Different combinations of power distribution with other cooling methods, such as a heatsink tooled on a sealed or open enclosure, at natural or forced convection, are studied. The recent rise in fuel costs and global warming concerns have re-invigorated the search for alternative energy sources. Harnessing energy from the wind is a logical alternative; however the cost and efficiency of current wind turbines is a limiting factor. The use of an augmented Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) may become the superior choice to the more common Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWTs) that are usually associated with the harvesting of wind energy. In these instances, railway transportation is a top contender on land transport mode to achieve sustainable mobility in fast growing cities. The socioeconomic crisis associated with the pandemic put cash transfer programs back at the top of the policy agenda. It showed that the Latin American and Caribbean regions income support systems were both fundamental and insufficient. In this paper, we present novel estimates of the coverage and beneficiary distribution of all non-contributory cash transfers both before and during the COVID-19 crisis. The former is useful to show the degree of preparedness of the region. The latter analyzes the magnitude of the policy response. While the literature presents estimates of coverage and leakage

Poverty reduction is an increasingly important consideration in the deliberations over multilateral trade liberalization. However, the analytical procedures used to assess the impacts of multilateral trade liberalization on poverty are rudimentary, at best. Most poverty studies have focused on a single country using detailed household survey data. When it comes to multi-country, global trade liberalization analyses, researchers are often forced to resort to a discussion of average, or per capita effects, suggesting that if per capita real income rises, then poverty will fall. The Gini coefficient, a widely used measure of income inequality which increases as income becomes more dispersed, has averaged 0.29 in Northern Ireland and slightly more than this, at 0.31 in Ireland, between 2003 and 2019. Using harmonised microsimulation models for Ireland (SWITCH) and Northern Ireland (UKMOD), we simulate the Gini coefficient to be 0.26 in Northern Ireland and 0.28 in Ireland in 2019, although these point
