Abstract We investigated the effect of the electronic confinement potential on the electron–LO-phonon (el–LO-ph) interaction energy in a quantum well by using the variational method. Four eyes of 2 patients with corneal edema due to Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy were treated with CXL using the standard protocol. Since no improvement in visual acuity, corneal clarity, thickness, or pain sensation was evident in any eye at month 12, 2 eyes of the 2 patients were retreated, this time, following intraoperative corneal dehydration with glycerol 70% drops. In this paper, we examined flow direction of water bridge and what effects the addition of electrolytes such as NaCl, NaOH, and to the floating water bridge would give. We found that ionization degree reduced the length of water bridge though insoluble electrolyte had no effect on the length of water bridge.

The thickness dependence of the Berreman effect for naturally grown oxide films on chrome is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. The shift of the spectral position of the Berreman minimum can be described by the Fuchs–Kliewer theory of virtual modes. Both the absorption and the shift of the position can be used for thickness determination. The experimental results compared with calculated values based on different optical constants for Cr2O3 indicate their influence on the position and the absorption of the Berreeman minimum.

In this study, the thermal conductivity of sputtered Sn films of thickness 500 nm ± 50 nm and 100 nm ± 20 nm are obtained from 55K to 300K and from 40K to 310K, respectively, using the three omega method.
