This research focuses on the fabrication of plastic flexure hinges from diverse plastics such as ABS, PP, HDPE, and LDPE. To enhance hinge efficiency, the recycling ratios are also investigated. The amplification ratio of different recycle ratios and plastic types are measured. The results show that the input and output displacements of all PP, ABS, and HDPE hinges are linear. The presence of recycled plastics has no impact on this basis. The pure PP, ABS, and HDPE flexure hinges achieve the highest amplification ratios of 5.728, 8.249, and 5.668. Both models were fabricated using 3D printing technology using PLA material. The EHM incorporates flexible structures in both the hinge and lateral scutum regions, allow

This paper presents an optimal design of a compliant mechanism with circular notch flexure hinges as well as a performance evaluation of a two-axes ultra-precision stage using the compliant mechanism. The compliant mechanism consists of two double-symmetric four-link mechanisms for two translational motions. As the circular notch flexure hinge can produce rotation as well as axial translation via its deformation, the double symmetric four-link mechanism can translate along one direction in a small range. In the optimal design, a composite global design index based on Min-Max principle is appli

Using the characteristics of the topological structure of existing hinge mechanisms and design requirement specification, six hinge designs were synthesized. The most suitable design was selected for kinematic analysis with the vector loop method. The equations of motion of the mechanism were then derived by the Hamilton principle and Lagrange undetermined multipliers method and simplified using coordinate partitioning method. That is, optimization of deployment torque and maximization of the deployed stiffness can be possible since this suggested hinge mechanism is decoupled design. The main defect of the traditional deployment mechanisms for solar panels in CubeSats is the lack of position system to block the back-driving of the panel when it reaches the final phase of the deployment. This generates spurious oscillations in the panel, affecting the photovoltaic process as well as generating fatigue in the mechanical elements of the mechanism (hinge or pin).
