Abstract:
Synaptic transmission in the nervous system involves the activation of receptor proteins that permit rapid transmembrane fluxes of ions. Ionic gradients across the membrane determine the direction and driving force for the flow of ions and are therefore crucial in setting the properties of synaptic transmission. These ionic gradients are established by a variety of mechanisms, including pump and transporter proteins. However, the gradients can be affected by periods of neural activity, which in turn, are predicted to influence the properties of ongoing synaptic transmission. In this thesis I h

This study involved the use of a thermogravimetric analyzer (TG) interfaced with a fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) and a mass spectrometer (MS) to determine the evolution of hydrogen chloride from coal during combustion as a function of the chlorine content and mesh size of the coal. It was determined that combined TG-FTIR and TG-MS systems offer the user an efficient means to investigate the mechanism of hydrogen chloride evolution from coal combustion. From the HC1 evolution profiles, it was determined that a good correlation exists between the chlorine content in the coal and

The global energy sector is facing a crisis caused by the increasing demand for energy. Hydrogen production is expensive and the gas is largely derived from fossil fuels by a process that releases large quantities of greenhouse gases. Le biogaz produit passe en continu et en ligne dans un bioréacteur de désulfuration en molécules organiques. Proposition d'un modèle intégrant les différentes vitesses de réaction. Perspectives de synthèse de molécules à haute valeur ajoutée.

Abstract:
Phosphorus-containing high performance polymers have been extensively studied during the last 10 years. These materials are of interest for a variety of optical and fire resistant properties, as well as for their ability to complex with the inorganic salts. This dissertation has focused on the nature of the phosphonyl group interactions with hydroxyl containing polymers, such as the poly(hydroxy ether)s. These may be considered linear models of epoxy resins and are also closely related to dimethacrylate (vinyl ester) matrix resins that are important for composite systems. It has been shown tha
