In ‘The Palestinian exile as writer’, Jabra Ibrahim Jabra gives a brief description of his suitcase that he carried over from his life in Palestine before the Nakba of 1948 to his life in Iraq thereafter. The Russian Muslim Abdürreşid İbrahim (1857-1944) was not only a successful journalist and reform-minded Islamic scholar. He was also a transnational activist who became influential in different local contexts, notably Russia, the Ottoman Empire, and Japan. Chlamydia trachomatis is a bacterial pathogen that can cause serious reproductive harm. We describe a class of stochastic branching processes and their application in modelling the growth of an infection by Chlamydia.
