This thesis examines the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on Vietnamese economy based on Partial Adjustment Model and time series data from 1976 to 2004. FDI is shown to have not only short run but also long run effect on gross domestic product (GDP) of Vietnam. However, elasticity of GDP with respect to FDI is small and it will take many years to fully manifest itself. The impact of trade openness on GDP has also been examined and it is shown to be stronger than that of FDI. Abstract:

The study examines the effect of oil price changes on selected economic indicators in South Africa. A VAR-5 model was applied to quarterly data of 1990:Q1-2012:Q4 estimating the impulse response functions, variance decomposition and Granger-causality tests. The findings allow for a conclusion that oil significantly affects the exchange rate and an inverse link between oil and GDP exists. A unidirectional relation is found where oil Granger-causes the exchange rate and GDP Granger-causes oil in South Africa.

<p>This paper investigates the impact of Economic Freedom on FDI inflows to developing countries and the Middle East in particular. Four forms of Economic Freedom were tested as variables determining FDI inflow. These four variables were Freedom from Corruption, Government Size, Trade Freedom and Investment Freedom. The main purpose of this study is to investigate relationship between foreign exchange reserves and RMB exchange rate. In order to obtain a precise result, foreign trade situation and GDP are also considered. The monthly data is collected over period 1994 to 2011, and processed through ADF test, Johansen test, and Granger causality test. Final results indicate that there is a long-term equilibrium relationship existing between foreign exchange reserves and RMB exchange rate. Moreover, any changes of foreign exchange reserves would lead to the fluctuation of RMB exchange rate but not vice versa
