This question tries to make a critical assessment of the traditional systems of social security that assumed that any disability led to the end of the productive life. However, that differs completely from the view of the social model of disability that states that disability comes from the social barriers and not from the persons. Employment could not only have economic benefits, but also improve their social skills and integrate them into mainstream society. Studies pointed out that some problems, such as health, fitness, social communication, and so on, might be easily encountered by workers with disability in work places, which usually limited their working performance. Most people in South Africa make use of Government hospitals making the results of this research applicable to the general population. Questionnaires like the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) are easy and effective research tools to assess disability from LBP but most of them are developed in English. In South Africa however, many people are often not lit

In 2000 the European Union adopted the Framework Equal Treatment Directive which prohibits discrimination because of a number of grounds including disability. This thesis examines the nature of that protection from discrimination because of disability and considers what contribution the directive may make to achieving the policy objectives of the disability rights movement in Europe. The discussion is based on the text of the directive, policy statements issued by the European Council, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission, academic commentary and decisions of the Europ

Abstract:
People with an intellectual disability have high levels of sedentary behaviour (Temple, Frey, & Stanish, 2006) and health conditions associated with inactivity such as cardiovascular disease (Draheim, 2006) and obesity (Rimmer & Yamaki, 2006). Physical activity has been identified as one of the most successful strategies used to decrease these health risks. Four participants with an intellectual disability were recruited from the Special Olympics Athletic Club and participated in a 9-week strength and aerobic exercise program which consisted of a face-to-face program and an at-home component.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine whether a modified version of the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) (American Thoracic Society, 2002) could be used to assess aerobic power in adults with intellectual disability. Thirteen adults (7M, 6F), four with Down syndrome; 18-44 years old, with mild or moderate intellectual disability participated in the study. Each participant performed the following: (1) the modified 6MWT twice, with a pacer, along a straight 30-m course in a gymnasium; (2) the graded maximal treadmill test; and (3) a test of leg strength, twice, using a Cybex dynamometer. The doctoral research consists of a comparison between Italy and Spain on the issues of inclusion of children with disabilities. To understand the dynamics of inclusion in both countries, I have chosen to use the tool that best suits the purpose, the Index for Inclusion. It is a tool created by two British psychologists, T. Booth and M. Ainscow. With this tool, they have made it possible to give advice on how to construct an inclusive environment. Field research was conducted amongst classrooms of first and second grade students and fourth and fifth year secondary school students. Additionally
