Abstract:
Adolescence is a time of increased developmental stress and associated risk for psychopathology. At the same time, today’s adolescent is almost constantly digitally connected, and the online space has been largely overlooked by researchers as a context for youthful coping. As a result, the current thesis includes three empirical studies to address critical gaps in our measurement of adolescent coping (online or off), how adolescents look to the digital arena as they navigate day-to-day life, and the short-term influence of online coping on adolescents’ emotional well-being. Abstract:
The growing ubiquity of computers and their associated networks is propelling the world into the information age. Computers may revolutionize terrorism in the same manner that they have revolutionized everyday life. Terrorism in the information ageB will consist of conventional terrorism, in which classic weapons (explosives, guns, etc.) will be used to destroy property and kill victims in the physical world; technoterrorism, in which classic weapons will be used to destroy infrastructure targets and cause a disruption in cyberspace; and cyberterrorism, where new weapons (malicious software, e

The following study charts the research and execution of two film projects that contribute towards my PhD in Film by Practice, Here Lies Lucy: A Vampire Yarn (2008) and Tera Toma (2009). Based on the texts of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, these two films are an attempt to breathe new life into the original works, which have been diluted and over-layered with meaning throughout the mechanical age. In the post-digital age, new aesthetic and methodological approaches to film production are emerging which are intended to humanise the

The hieratic script has never been studied systematically regarding its peculiarities in abbreviations, orthography, functions or historical development, nor in comparison with cursive and monumental hieroglyphs as well as Demotic signs. After Möller’s Hieratic Palaeography volumes I to III, being based on merely 32 sources, Egyptologists compiled several more or less complete palaeographies on single texts, groups of texts or time spans. However, the comparability of signs is often hindered or impossible due to the heterogeneity of writing surfaces, the quality of facsimiles and photos or the
