Using computer-assisted techniques, this study analyzes the mean contact area of the articular surface of the second tarsometatarsal joint. The articular contact area decreased proportionate to the displacement in both males and females, but it was consistently greater in males than in females for all simulated displacements. The reduction in the contact area was the highest with dorsolateral displacement compared with the lateral and dorsal displacements. Dorsolateral displacement of the second metatarsal of 3 mm led to 38.6% reduction in the contact area, compared with 33.1% and 20.2% reduct

Abstract:
Aircraft joints feature prominently in aircraft structural degradation. Fatigue cracking and corrosion damage can reduce joint strength and degrade service life. Corrosion management can include use of paints and sealants and, increasingly, the application of Corrosion Inhibiting Compounds (CICs) which retard corrosion, by penetrating into crevices and cracks, and displacing water. A combination of coatings and CIC use can provide effective corrosion protection, but both interact - in different ways - with structural performance and overall system durability. This paper discusses the interacti

In this study we presented kinematic and kinetic data of foot joints by using passive elastic characteristics of joints during gait. During the calculation process we used approximate equations and partial plantar pressures. The maximum angular displacements of each tarsometatarsal joint ranged from 4o to 7o and the maximum moments were from 200N⋅cm to 1500N⋅cm. It was relatively wide distribution. Foot kinematic data calculated from the approximated equations, which were represented by the correlation between moment and angular displacement, and the data from motion analysis were very similar

Counter-tilt layered rock slopes are common types of slopes that are susceptible to destabilizing damage under seismic action. Therefore, the dynamic response law of counter-tilt layered rock slopes under seismic action is of great significance for the study of slope stability. Lap joints are commonly used as a method of connecting structural parts. This includes parts that are made by 3D printing technology. Structural simulation using the finite element (FE) method can be used for lap joint analysis purposes. There are two approaches to use for the analysis of lap joints: actual bolt connection, and virtual bolt connection. Although an actual bolt connection is ideal to use, however in some cases it is impractical, for example when the number of joints and number of fasteners is huge. It is necessary to understand the behavior of these two different approaches for
