Abstract In this research, a combined method was developed to determine the erodibility of bends in the Karkheh River. For this purpose, a 40 km reach of the Karkheh River downstream of the Karkheh Dam was considered. The value of the shear stress was the calculated using the CCHE2D model. The results from the model show that in 1996 (before construction of the Karkheh dam), the length of the erodible reach was 1314 m; in 2011 (after construction of the Karkheh dam), this length was reduced to 840 m. Furthermore, the model illustrates that the location of the maximum shear stress is a function

Abstract The construction of the Karkheh Dam is an important factor contributing to the occurrence of dust storms in the Khuzestan Province of Iran. It has reduced the annual mean flow discharge in the Karkheh River from 120 to 50 m3/s and dried land around the river. The area of dried land is 90.17 km2 around the river and 333.45 km2 in the Hawr-al-Azim wetland. The Rosgen method, Fluvial-12 software, and Shulits equation demonstrate the instability of the plan, cross sections and longitudinal slope of the river, respectively, around Pay-e-pol hydrometric station (upstream of the river). Abstract For the investigation of fish from Karkheh River, sampling was performed in a six month period from August 2014 to January 2015. All sampled fish were measured for biometrical values (length and weight). General results of the sampling and identification of the fish showed the presence of 14 species from four fish families of Cyprinidae, Mugilidae, Siluridae and Macrostomidae, out of which the Cyprinidae family were the most frequent of the sampled fish. The most significant abundance belongs to Cyprinus carpio. The fish sampled in the present study were: Liza abu, Ctenopharyngodon id

We report the occurrence of Mesopotamian tooth carp, Aphanius mesopotamicus Coad 2009, in a southern branch of the Karkheh River, 10 km west of Hoor-Al-Azim Wetland. This is the first report of successful collection of this species after its first collection in 1978-80 and futile efforts during the last three decades and after its original description based on those old museum specimens.

Abstract:
One of the most important purposes of surface water resource management is to develop predictive models to assist in identifying and evaluating operational and structural measures for improving water quality. To better understand the effects of external and internal nutrient and organic loading and the effects of reservoir operation, a model is often developed, calibrated, and used for sensitivity and management simulations. The importance of modeling and simulation in the scientific community has drawn interest towards methods for automated calibration. This study addresses using an automatic
