This paper reviews the trends in the study of Korean-German relations published in Korean, German, and English since 2001. Since Joseon and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1883, Korean-German relations have continued for 140 years. In particular, after World War II, both countries formed a bond of sympathy by sharing the experience of forced division. This led to the early start of the study of Korean-German relations. If we limit ourselves to the year 2001, there are approximately 120 studies in Korean on Korean-German relations. Of these, about 80 are in German and English. This

Abstract:
This study investigates supralaryngeal mechanisms of the two way voicing contrast among German velar stops and the three way contrast among Korean velar stops, both in intervocalic position. Articulatory data won via electromagnetic articulography of three Korean speakers and acoustic recordings of three Korean and three German speakers are analysed. It was found that in both languages the voicing contrast is created by more than one mechanism. However, one can say that for Korean velar stops in intervocalic position stop closure duration is the most important parameter. For German it is closu

AbstractThis paper examines changing German and Korean policies towards transborder coethnics (Germans in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and Koreans in Japan and China) during the high Cold War and post-Cold War eras. The paper contributes to the emerging literature on transborder forms of membership and belonging by highlighting and explaining the selective, variable, contingent, contested, and revocable nature of states’ embrace of transborder coethnics. The explanation highlights the relationship of transborder populations to predecessor polities; changing geopolitical contexts

The process of immigration and settlement of Korean nursing women in Germany in the 1960s and 1970s was a process in response to the various social changes that were going on in German society. Their period of living in Germany mostly overlaps with the period of the 68th Movement and the social changes that resulted from it. The social changes caused by the 68th movement have an impact on some of Korean women's recognition of their identity as migrant women workers from the Third World. Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) involves insertion/deletion (in/del) polymorphisms in the prion protein gene (PRNP) promoter region that are associated with vulnerability to disease progression. Recently, a second member of the prion gene family, prion-like protein gene (PRND), has been reported to show the PRND R132Q polymorphism, which is associated with the susceptibility to BSE in German Fleckvieh breeds. The objective of this study was to examine the genotype, allele, and haplotype frequencies of PRND gene in Korean cattle and evaluate their susceptibility to BSE. We did this in 27
