For the first time, a detailed record of the δ13Сorg value has been obtained in Permian mudstones of the Taskan Basin (Omulevka block, Northeast Asia), covering the interval from the Upper Kungurian, Roadian, Wordian, Capitanian, and Lower Wuchiapingian stages. Twelve brachiopod species are described from the Cisuralian (Early Permian) Kungurian horizon of a large limestone block in the Middle Jurassic accretionary complex at Hatahoko in the Mino Belt, central Japan. Most species of the Hatahoko fauna are known from the Kungurian to lowest Guadalupian (Middle Permian) of West Texas, U.S.A. This article discusses the Late Kungurian radioisotopic age (276.9 ± 0.4 Ma) of the middle part of the Starokuznetsk Formation (Kuznetsk Subgroup, Kolchugino Group) of the Kuznetsk Basin determined by chemical abrasion–isotope dilution–thermal ionization mass spectrometry (CA-ID-TIMS). There are important morphological differences between the dominant higher taxa (classes) in associations of radiolarians that lived at different depths of paleobasins. A similar inversion of dominant radiolarian taxa can be seen in the Early Tournaisian (Mississippian) and the Kungurian (Cisuralian) and may indicate a change in their habitat from deeper conditions where porous Sphaerellaria dominant, to less deep-water shelf environments, in which spongy-lattice Spumellaria prevailed.

The study of an assemblage of in situ stumps of arborescents lycopods casts in a coaly sedimentary sequence in Permian (Artinskian – Kungurian) of south brazilian Gondwana, allowed to infer a higromesofilous habita for these plants. No granite pluton being known in the Rif belt nor in the neighbouring Betic Cordillera, the origin of these calc-alkaline Kungurian (end of the Early Permian) granites is discussed. A provenance from a nearby unit presently drowned in the Alboran sea is likely.
