Abstract: The primary objective of this project is to develop a web-based application for the allocation of work to daily wage workers. Effective management of labour resources is crucial to the success of fieldwork. The assignment of labour to work constitutes one of the most vitally significant and successful processes in the management of labour resources. Consequently, estimating labour shortages and evaluating various labour resource allocation strategies can facilitate the allocation process. By utilising a system dynamics approach, a dynamic model is proposed for workforce allocation. T

This study describes the optimality in resource utilization of the manufacturing firms in the south-west region of Bangladesh. A translog production function has been estimated to describe the input-output relationship. The large scale firms have the opportunity to substitute capital for labour for producing the same level of output. On the other hand, scarcity in capital leads to lower productivity of labour in medium and small firms. Therefore, an increase in capital may lead to an increase in labour productivity as well as output for these small and medium firms. The productive labour force

Several factors affect labour productivity, but buildability is one of the most important. A thorough investigation of the literature, however, revealed a dearth of research into the effect of buildability on labour productivity of in situ reinforced concrete construction. Therefore, this research focuses on quantifying the effects and relative influence of the variability of beam sizes, repetition of floor layout, floor area, average slab panel area, intersection of beams, beam–floor area ratio, and percentage of curved beams and nonrectangular slab panels on formwork labour productivity of b

During most of the nineteenth century, the economy of the British crown colony Ceylon depended almost exclusively on the export of plantation products. After modest beginnings in the 1820s and 1830s, coffee cultivation spread on the island in the 1840s. During the 1880s, the coffee plantations were superseded by plantations of a new crop—tea. Both cultivation systems were almost pure export monocultures, and both relied almost exclusively on imported wage labour from South India. Thus, it is surprising that labour immigration—a process vital to the efficient functioning of the plantation econo

In the present study, an attempt has been made to test the cost efficiency of cereal crops like paddy, wheat and maize separately in the state of Bihar using Stochastic Cost Frontier model. It has been tried to determine the determinants of cost inefficiencies. The study is also aimed to know the factors affecting the cost inefficiencies in production of major cereals of the state so as to ascertain proper steps to increase cost efficiency in production. Most important observation emerged that there existed non-linear relationship between cost inefficiency and farm category. Cost inefficiency

The study conducted in 2024 aimed to analyse the efficiency of resource utilisation and the marginal value productivity (MVP) of inputs in potato farming across three prominent districts of Haryana–Sonipat, Karnal, and Kurukshetra. A sample of 120 farmers cultivating potatoes was chosen through convenience sampling. To evaluate the impact of various inputs on yield variation, the Cobb-Douglas production function was applied to estimate the respective regression coefficients. Marginal Value Productivities were derived and compared with Marginal Factor Cost (MFC), taken as unity due to monetary

Labour productivity is concerned with the total number of hours worked in a unit time to produce goods and services. It has become imperative for organisations to retain a competitive edge in the market. Labour productivity contributes to an organisation’s total factor productivity, which ultimately leads towards growth in national income. Thus, the economic development of nations lies in the efficient use of labour. Recent studies have shown that human emotions, aspirations and feelings considerably influence productivity. Tourism is an important sector in the Croatian economy. To retain its unique position in global markets, Croatian tourism has to compete with other world destinations and to attract travellers worldwide. This will not be possible without efficient human resource development policies and practices. The main problems in tourism are very similar across countries: low pay, very high demand for staff flexibility and mobility, high staff turnover, high share of informal employment arrangements and persistent skill shortages.
