Several classes of models of hierarchical organizations share two common properties: the characteristics at different levels of the hierarchy are complementary, but this complementarity does not extend beyond adjacent levels. We propose a unified yet simple approach to study comparative statics of organizational characteristics with endogenous number of hierarchical layers in all these models. We use this new approach to study organizational decision making, and show that increased delay cost incentivizes the organization to empower lower level employees more than upper level employees. This paper examines the optimal operation strategies for income properties. Specifically, the rental rate and the operating expense should be set at levels to maximize the return on investment. The results suggest that for a given demand curve of a specific rental property, there exist optimal levels of the income ratio, the operating expense ratio, and the vacancy rate. With a Cobb-Douglas demand curve, we derived closed form solutions of these optimal ratios for a given income property. The relevant local comparative statics of these ratios also are derived. Cocontraction (the simultaneous activation of antagonist muscles around a joint) provides the nervous system with a way to adapt the mechanical properties of the limb to changing task requirements—both in statics and during movement. However, relatively little is known about the conditions under which the motor system modulates limb impedance through cocontraction. The goal of this study was to test for a possible relationship between cocontraction and movement accuracy in multi-joint limb movements. Obtaining and comprehensively studying animal models of DDAS is important for the development of methods for the prevention and treatment of this pathology in humans. An ideal animal model of DDAS should have morphological manifestations and biomechanical characteristics similar to humans. Monkeys are the only species of experiment
