Abstract:
Definition Enlargement of cervical lymph glands is common in children and in most cases represents a transient response to a benign local or generalized infection, most often of viral etiology. The increase in size may involve a single node or a localized group of nodes (regional adenopathy); it may be unilateral or bilateral; and it may be acute, subacute, or chronic in onset and course. Almost all normal children have small palpable cervical, axillary, and inguinal nodes. About 5% have small palpable suboccipital nodes. Distinctly uncommon are palpable postauricular, supraclavicular, epitroc

The association of cervical adenopathie with a cervical carcinoma location suggests a lymph node metastasis and requires a complicated and radical surgery. The most common location of extrapulmonary tuberculosis is cervical lymph nodes (63-77%) [1]. We report a tuberculous lymphadenetis mimicking lymph node metastasis in a 35-year-old patient operated for progressive cervical tumefaction. It was a papillary thyroid carcinoma found after an isthmo-lobectomy. The pathologic findings imposed a thyroidectomy totalization and an ipsilateral central neck lymph node dissection. The most common malignancies causing mesenteric adenopathy are gastrointestinal and lymphoma. Methods: Four patients with GCTs presenting with mesenteric adenopathies were treated in two academic centers (OHSU and USC) by a single surgeon since 2004. All pathologies were non-seminomatous GCT. Otolaryngolists routinely employ FNA for cervical lymph nodes which may have arisen from head and neck carcinomas, since incisional procedures may interfere with potentially curative surgery. Methods: The charts of 176 patients referred to the Kings County Hospital Center since 1996 for confirmed lymphoma were reviewed. Castleman's disease is a rare, usually benign, lymph node disorder that can manifest as cervical or mediastinal adenopathy. There are three histological variants: unicentric hyaline-vascular, unicentric plasma cells, and multicentric plasma cells, each with different symptoms and radiological features. The hyaline vascular form has a predilection for the thorax, and can simulate other conditions such as thymoma or lymphoma. Imaging tests, such as CT scans and MRIs, are useful for diagnosis, revealing characteristic patterns of lymph node enhancement and involvement. Treatment varies depending

African animal trypanosomosis (AAT), a livestock disease, also known as Nagana, tsetse fly disease, or tsetse disease, is a widespread tsetse-borne disease complex caused by unicellular protozoan parasites belonging to the genus Trypanosoma. It is one of the major constraints to the expansion of livestock rearing and livestock-based industries in Africa. It also constrains mixed farming, human health, and livelihood in tropical Africa. The tsetse fly is the major vector of the disease. Acute disease is characterized by marked depression, intermittent fever, anorexia, anemia, blood-tinged diarr

Introduction: Cervical cancer is the fourth most frequently found cancer among women worldwide. Numerous studies have underlined that persistent infection with human papilloma virus is the most important risk factor, two strains of the same virus – 16 and 18 being responsible for approximately 70% of the cases. Cervical cancer rarely metastasizes in the cervical lymph nodes and this indicates a poor prognosis. Literature data reports an incidence for left supraclavicular M1LYm of 0.1-1.5%. It is defined as a clinically recognizable metastatic carcinoma derived from an undetectable primary breast tumor, with metastasis to the axillary and cervical lymph nodes. Clinical and radiological examinations represent the first steps in the diagnosis, followed by a histological and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis, as well as a multidisciplinary team evaluation and therapy - essential for diagnosis and treatment.
