ABSTRACT Microcin C51 (MccC51) is an antimicrobial nucleotide-heptapeptide produced by a natural Escherichia coli strain. A 5.7-kb fragment of the pC51 plasmid carrying the genes involved in MccC51 production, secretion, and self-immunity was sequenced, and the genes were characterized. The sequence of the MccC51 gene cluster is highly similar to that of the MccC7 gene. Recombinant plasmids carrying different combinations of the mcc genes involved in the MccC51 production or immunity were constructed to characterize their functional roles. Most MCNP physics is very robust, but other physics is more approximate such as charged particle transport, secondary particle emission, and radioactive activation and decay. Abstract:
Chlorinated paraffins (CPs) are high production volume chemicals composed of complex mixtures of thousands of compounds that have been applied widely as flame retardants and plasticizers. CPs have demonstrated toxic and bioaccumulative properties, while evidence suggests dietary intake to constitute a major pathway for human exposure. This study reports on the optimization and validation of an analytical method for the quantification of short- and medium-chained CPs (SCCPs and MCCPs, respectively) using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in fats and oils, and the development of liqui

Abstract:
Joule-Thompson (J-T) based micro cryogenic coolers (MCCs) are attractive because they can provide the cryogenic temperatures needed for small electronic devices while having a low cost and small volumetric footprint. A compressor is a major part of a cryogenic system, but so far J-T based MCCs have not used miniature or micro scale compressors. This work demonstrates a J-T based MCC coupled with a miniature compressor for cooling to 200 K, using a custom hydrocarbon mixture as refrigerant. The compressor is formed by coupling a miniature piston oscillator built for Stirling coolers with a micr
