Abstract:
Trade and commercial activities between Europe and Asia can be carried out through three main routes: The Northern Corridor, the Southern Corridor and the Middle Corridor. The Northern Corridor passes through Russian territory, while the Southern Corridor is a sea route that connects China to Europe. The Middle Corridor is a newer route that follows the old Silk Road and crosses the Central Asian Republics, the Caucasus and Turkey. The study aimed to analyze the geopolitical role of the Middle Corridor, particularly following the onset of the Ukraine war. Research findings indicated that the s

Abstract:
Central Europe is a hostage to geography and history. Regional states have historically benefited greatly from their position as a hub along the East-West and North-South trade corridors. Later, however, the Iron Curtain and, more recently, the Russo-Ukrainian war cut the region off first from the West and then from the East, while the European Union’s infrastructure and connectivity development policies have favoured Western member states at the expense of East-Central European countries. The prosperity of our region could be ensured if it regained a central position in NorthSouth and East-We

Abstract:
This paper seeks to uncover patterns and potential avenues of diversification and reorientation in the trade of the members of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program revealed by the recent series of external shocks. The paper examines the CAREC-wise trends in merchandise and service trade volumes, partners, and routes during 2022–2023. It then focuses on the trade potential of the Middle Corridor, which is increasingly discussed as a key transport and transit option for CAREC.

This report presents the results of vegetation monitoring efforts in 2022 at Agate Fossil Beds National Monument (AGFO) by the Northern Great Plains Inventory and Monitoring Network (NGPN) and the Northern Great Plains Fire Ecology Program (NGPFire). This was the tenth year of combined monitoring efforts. In 2022, crew members from NGPN visited 6 long-term plant community monitoring (PCM) plots to collect data on the upland mixed-grass prairie plant communities at AGFO. This work is part of a long-term monitoring program established to better understand the condition of the vegetation communit
