Abstract:
Density functional theory calculation using Quantum Espresso package was conducted to study band gap and structural effect of BiVO4 by doping elements like Zr, Mo and S, to substitute Bi, V and O. Band gap of BiVO4 has been reduced from 2.25 to 1.54 eV by ~8% S2- substitution with O2-. Distance between atoms V-O increased by changing to V-S, which effects vibration of the atoms in the structure. ~2% substitution Mo and Zr with Bi and V changed monoclinic BiVO4 to mix phase of tetragonal scheelite phase. It has been shown that XRD powder pattern of optimized structure can show (121) plane peak

Small button ingots of Ti2AlNb alloys with different contents of Mo, V and Zr were melted by vacuum non-consumable arc furnace. Due to the rapid cooling rate during melting process, only β grains without precipitation were observed in most of the button ingots and no regular phenomenon was found. However, when the samples were heated to β phase region and then furnace cooled to room temperate, different morphologies and quantities of primary α phase and second O phase formed from the β grains of different samples. Abstract:
The objective of the research is to propose a thermodynamic approach to describe the effects of vacancy saturation on the phase stability of solid nanoparticles during irradiation and to employ the steady-state approach in chemical rate theory to account for radiation defect concentrations. The research is applicable for polymorphic phase transitions in metals (Mo, V, W, Ti, Tl, Zr) and amorphization in ceramics (SiC, TiC). The study demonstrates, via simulation, the potential for radiation-induced α-phase to β-phase transitions and stable radiation zones in initially crystalline nanoparticles
