Abstract:
Although the major functions of the lymphatic system are fairly well defined, its vasculature has yet to be well characterized in comparison to its blood vasculature counterpart. Recent advances in optical imaging techniques have allowed for more detailed and quantitative evaluations of lymph flow dynamics and mechanism. A rat tail is often used for investigations of lymph flow because of the simple geometry, superficial nature, and disease progression models of its collecting lymphatic vessels. In this study, a pressure cuff system was fabricated and coupled with an existing functional near i

Organic chemistry of dyes and pigments offers a large number of synthetic tools for the production of innovative compounds to match the requirements of modern materials science. Near-infrared portion of the spectrum (700-2500 nm) is of particular interest, with application in bioimaging, photodynamic therapy, night vision, telecommunications and sensors. Among the thousands of different organic structure present in the literature, organic complexes of neutral tetrahedral boron (III), subphthalocyanine, squaraines and rare-earths complexes show attractive spectroscopic and chemical behavior suc

Abstract:
There is a need for an accurate real-time quantitative system that would enhance decision-making in the treatment of osteoarthritis. To achieve this objective, significant research is required that will enable articular cartilage properties to be measured and categorized for health and functionality without the need for laboratory tests involving biopsies for pathological evaluation. Such a system would provide the capability of access to the internal condition of the cartilage matrix and thus extend the vision-based arthroscopy that is currently used beyond the subjective evaluation of surgeo
