This study has analyzed particel size distribution and needle content in chipped logging residuals (branches and tops) delivered to the district heating plant Ryaverket in city of Borås, Sweden. Two fuel assortments has been analyzed: Chipped logging residuals from pure softwood and from mixed fuel (connifers and broadleaves). The samples has been sieved at Linneaus University laboratory. The study of particle sizes indicates that only 53,2 % of delivered fuel is within the fuels specification (7– 45 mm). The needle content is in this study 12,4 % (dry mass) which is higher than expected.<br>S

This thesis examines three questions concerned with the relative income needs of families of different sizes - often summarised by indices known as ???equivalence scales???. The first is the extent to which researchers and policy makers should offset the costs of family composition (eg the expenditure costs of children) with the benefits associated with demographic choice (eg the ???joys of parenthood???). Chapter 2 concludes that there are demographic and financial market constraints that will often make a narrow focus on expenditure costs appropriate for distributional research and tax/trans

Abstract This study deals with effects of bubble motion on average chord length of bubbles measured by a double-needle type conductance probe system. So far, known estimation methods for bubble size are restricted to only a spherical bubble. For the estimation of deformed bubble size, the rocking motion of a bubble should be considered. Furthermore, in order to obtain the value of bubble size near the wall, the relation between the size and average chord length of bubbles should be derived taking both the restricted bubble motion and the probe position into account. The results show that takin

Using firm level data on 70,000 enterprises in 107 countries, this paper finds important effects of access to finance, business regulations, corruption, and to a lesser extent, infrastructure bottlenecks in explaining patterns of job creation at the firm level. The paper focuses on how the impact of the investment climate varies across sizes of firms. The results suggest strong composition effects: A weak business environment shifts downward the size distribution of firms. In the case of finance and business regulations this occurs by reducing the employment growth of all firms, particularly m

Hydrostatic retesting is a practical technique for remov1ng colonies of stress-corrosion cracks from gas lines before service failures occur. However, at present operators have no sound basis for choosing a retest interval. Rather, they use arbitrary schedules that have little grounding in the actual processes of crack growth. Thus, the current practice may for some lines be overly conservative while being totally inadequate for others. Since some cracking may survive a hydrostatic test, the ideal retest interval should be just shorter than the time needed for those remaining cracks to reach a
