John Cotton Dana, who died in 1929, had been Librarian of the Newark Public Library since 1902. Among many other achievements, he was responsible for the development of remarkable art collections in the Library, including a collection of prints, and of a Picture Collection of visual images; the programme of art exhibitions he organised in the Library led to the founding of the Newark Museum. The collections Dana initiated continued to grow after his death, guided by his inspiration: they are of regional and even national importance and, via library networking, serve the whole state of New Jersey; the scope of the print collection has been extended to include several categories of printed ephemera, including shopping bags.

This article examines the activities of the Newark Public Library during World War I as a means of highlighting the significant role American libraries played in promoting the nation’s war effort. During the war public libraries were usually the most important information centers in their communities. They distributed books, pamphlets, and posters in support of a wide range of government initiatives, they organized war-related exhibits and classes, and they collected vast amounts of reading material for libraries at military camps. Newark’s chief librarians, John Cotton Dana and Beatrice Winser, oversaw many such patriotic initiatives, but they also became involved in more controversial campaigns to employ women librarians at military camps and to resist wartime calls for censorship of unpatriotic literature.

The purpose of this research is to define grounded theoretical models about factors that influence collection development and collection management of business information resources in public libraries. The study is based on data collected from a multi-site case study of public libraries along the U.S.-Mexico border where there is a critical need for information on starting and expanding small businesses. A framework of structuration theory and cultural hegemony theory informs an analysis of the data. This paper relates to the relevant literature and sets forth implications for research, practice, and further discussion. The three main categories identified from coding the data are library location, modes of production and distribution of business information resources, and the degree of external stakeholder pressure on library business collections. Three model statements defined and supported by the data are: (1) the attributes of funding, librarian qualifications, access to information and communication technologies, size and qualities of the business community, and client expectations that influence business collection development are related to library location in metropolitan or rural areas; (2) new practices in the production of content, formats, and modes of distribution of business materials are more problematic for small libraries due to limited information and communication technology (ICT) devices and insufficient professional training; and (3) external influences and initiatives, such as federal, state, and foundation programs, have more of an impact on business collection development in small libraries than in large libraries. The various properties of these factors are discussed with a focus on how daily routine, tacit awareness, and expectations draw on structural rules and resources to produce and reproduce, or change, library systems and their business collections. The consequences of location in metropolitan or rural areas are identified, and mitigating strategies are suggested. External influences and new modes of production and distribution of business information are implicated in supporting the cultural hegemony of globalization by encouraging the introduction and use of ICTs in public libraries; however, use of ICTs to expand the business collection is dependent upon librarian interest and abilities as well as competing demands for scarce resources.

<p> Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) has been studied extensively in a variety of settings for the last thirty years. There has been no research, however, on OCB in the public library environment. OCB is grounded on the premise that helping others in the organization, even when such behavior is unrewarded, has a cumulative effect that is beneficial both for individual staff members and for the organization as a whole. This focus on “helpful” behaviors is especially relevant for a field such as public librarianship, given its foundation on altruistic ideals.</p><p> This dissertation begins to address the lack of research on organizational citizenship behaviors in public libraries by examining the relationship among OCB and two of its correlates: Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) and perceived supervisor support. Analysis of data reveals that OCB shows a statistically significant correlation with both LMX and perceived supervisor support, but that perceived supervisor support is a more powerful predictor of OCB in the workplace studied. One of the primary findings of this research is that institutions wishing to encourage OCB must focus not only on the citizenship behaviors of front-line staff, but also on the skills of the middle managers and other managerial leaders who directly oversee them. Immediate supervisors play a critical role in facilitating OCB by maintaining high quality exchange relationships with, and demonstrating consistent support for, their supervisees. This finding has practical importance not only for how managerial leaders should be expected to perform, but also for their hiring, training, and development.</p><p> Organizational citizenship behavior has been shown to impact positively traditional work outcomes such as effectiveness and productivity, as well as attitudinal and behavioral outcomes such as organizational commitment and engagement. This research affirms the importance of OCB as an organizational construct and highlights its potential for the public library environment. Further, it provides practical methods for fostering and maintaining a workplace culture that values and encourages citizenship behaviors. This study will be of particular interest to library administrators, human resource managers, and those in managerial leadership positions as they seek to hire for, train, develop, and retain both managerial and front-line staff who demonstrate behaviors that improve interpersonal relationships and organizational effectiveness. </p>

While in agreement with the perceived wisdom that events during World War
Two were responsible for many social changes for women in Australia, the thesis
disagrees with the implication in existent Queensland womens historiography that
these changes affected women equally in all parts of the State. Research
undertaken in Central Queensland provides evidence that, although some
similarities existed, the conservative forces in this region restricted the liberating
effect of such changes. It also addresses the subject of Queensland difference, and
argues that the rural patriarchal economy sustained the notion of rigid gender and
class differences in Central Queensland. It maintains that this affected women in
regional Queensland to a far greater extent than those in the Brisbane
metropolitan area because of the lack of secondary wartime industry and the
masculine nature of rural industry. Additionally , in opposition to the widely held
belief there was universal post-war financial security the thesis argues that poverty
did exist. In particular it addresses the subjects of rising inflation and what has
been termed the Social Security Poverty Group, basing conclusions on statistical
evidence, oral evidence, and secondary and documentary sources.

The title of the research is Sustainability Performance Evaluation Management Systems Model for Individual Organizations and Supply Chains. This research has achieved its aim to develop and demonstrate the practical implementation of a simple and objective sustainability performance evaluation management system model for individual organizations and supply chains. It has resulted in the recognition that a new concept Network of Interested Partners underpins the achievement of sustainability. The term acknowledges the interdependence and reflects the essential cooperation that must be achieved between business organisations, their commercially related entities and the local community if progress towards sustainability is to be achieved. It therefore encompasses and extends the concept of a supply chain as currently used.
Sustainable Development is defined by the World Commission on Environment and Development as development, which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future societies to meet their own needs. Organizations, as part of human activities, also have to be sustainable. The sustainability of organizations is directly linked to the continual improvement of business performance. Many organizations have found a way to improve performance through the establishment of management systems. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards are recognized worldwide as reliable and efficient tools for the implementation of management systems. However, they do not always result in the desired improvement in outcomes. Therefore, if the required improvement of business performance is to be achieved, improved methodologies for development and implementation of performance evaluation (PE) processes are necessary. These methodologies must take into consideration sustainability principles. They also have to be applicable to individual entities and supply chains, with or without management systems in place. Supply chains are important because it is being increasingly recognized that overall supply chain performance is a means of adding value and competitive advantage to all businesses.
In the first part of the research a performance evaluation model or PE (version 1 model) was developed. This was used as criteria to compare and evaluate existing performance evaluation processes and outcomes of individual organisations and their respective supply chain within the Gladstone region, Australia. Questionnaires have also been used to identify and evaluate the needs of the interested parties in relation to the organizations and supply chains business performance and processes of performance evaluation.
All the information provided in the first part of the research was used by the researcher to develop the Sustainability Performance Evaluation Management Systems model or SPEMS (version 2 model). This incorporates the concepts of Network of Interested Parties/Partners. In particular, one of the outcomes is recognition that organizations need to establish partnerships if effective supply chain performance improvement is to be achieved. Therefore the establishment of partnerships has become a key requirement for the implementation of SPEMS.
The establishment of partnership among participants of a supply chain of Gladstone and implementation of the eight first steps of the SPEMS (version 2 model) in this supply chain was commenced successfully through workshops. The supply chain was formed by commercial organizations, government entities and interested parties from the community. SPEMS requires that partners all have the same level of ownership and authority in the decisions of the supply chain.
Some new terms and their definitions have been created within the research to support the new SPEMS model. They include: Network of Interested Partners, sustainability for organizations, sustainability KPI and sustainability friendly organizations.
All of the above are encompassed within the final SPEMS (version 3 model).

Seminal works on leadership, including those in librarianship define a traditional model of interaction between leaders and followers without reference to the information technology-driven environment. In addition, remote leadership indicates a different model from the traditional model, one that is focused on the interaction of leaders and their staff through digital technology. Although leaders still use face-to-face interaction, due to varied work schedules or job responsibilities, they also recognize the need to lead employees remotely. Leadership studies in library literature have not addressed how library leaders use information technology to lead employees remotely, nor have these studies addressed remote leadership and remote employees, except for some articles on telecommuting. As a result, this research was conducted to address this gap, providing an exploratory foundation of emergent patterns of remote leadership with its associated leadership dimensions rooted in personality traits, behaviors, and skills. Quantitative and qualitative data were obtained from a small sample size of academic and public-library leaders in the United States who participated in a Web-based survey designed specifically for this study, limiting generalizations. Factor analysis was the principal methodology used to obtain findings. Its composite factor scores were also used in the t-test and chi-square analyses. This study identifies some emergent patterns of remote leadership in the library and information-science field, exploring whether library leaders use information technology to be effective remote leaders in a technology-driven environment, and whether existing leadership attributes could be identified as part of the remote-leadership model. Because this study's findings indicated that library leaders are not quite the traditional leader but are not fully integrated into remote leadership, it becomes apparent that they would function with a blend of both face-to-face and electronic interactions, due to the nature of library work. Additionally, this research revealed underlying issues and challenges faced by library leaders as they transition from a traditional-leadership model to a blended model of face-to-face and remote leadership. Future research could include increasing the sample size and response rate to conduct factor analysis properly, and conducting longitudinal studies.

Building a thriving information economy is a goal for many developing countries. This research helps identify the factors (inhibitors and motivators) that can be used to leverage the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in a developing country to build a sustainable information economy that benefits other sectors of the economy. This is done by studying the current literature on this topic and then synthesizing the theoretical models to create a unified decision framework to help developing countries set their path to building a sustainable information economy.
Drawing on past literature and extant theory, a novel ICT4D decision framework is built that provides a three-dimensional view based on 1) the ICT value chain, 2) key factors (e.g. infrastructure, policies, markets), and 3) stakeholders (e.g. industry, government, academia). This decision framework is then used to study the case of Palestine, where secondary and primary data are used to compare the critical success factors for Palestine with the general framework. This synthesized framework and critical success factors superset is expected to advance the field’s understanding of how both controllable and non-controllable country characteristics contribute to or inhibit the growth and development of an ICT sector in developing countries. In addition, the framework and identified success factors help in setting a future path for development.
Results from both secondary data sources demonstrate the usability of the framework to analyze the current setting of the ICT sector, in addition, to help investigate a range of possible opportunities for action to reach a higher level of ICT success. Then, via a targeted set of interviews with academic, industrial, and governmental sources who are experts in the Palestinian ICT arena, an exploratory study was performed that focused on key critical success factors for future development of the ICT economy. Controllable factors that have the potential for sustainable action were identified.
In the case of Palestine, it appears that despite having many challenges that are out of control, there seem to be many opportunities for change specifically in government and educational policies that can help the ICT sector in specific, and the Palestinian economy in general reach its real potential. Given the current political situation in Palestine, it was found that there is a great potential in creating new software products for export. The challenges in this particular area in the case of Palestine lies in the lack of adequate business skills to research the global market and to market products and services that can be offered by the Palestinian ICT sector.
The findings should also help stakeholders see if the challenges to developing an ICT sector in Palestine are the same as those for any developing country, and where they are truly unique. The outcomes of this research have the potential to frame and inform economic development decisions that could define the future of the Palestinian state.

Mit den stärker wirkenden demografischen Veränderungen, dem zunehmenden Kostendruck, dem daraus folgenden Ressourcenmangel sowie den gestiegenen Dienstleistungsansprüchen der Verwaltungskunden nimmt die Bedeutung von Wissensmanagement und GPM auch in der öffentlichen Verwaltung zu. Trotz eines größtenteils einheitlichen Gesetzesrahmens werden in der Verwaltung Geschäftsprozesse unterschiedlich ausgestaltet. Zwischen Projekten, die Verwaltungsprozesse zum Gegenstand haben, gibt es zu wenig Austausch von Expertise und Erfahrungen. Die Erkenntnisse aus der erfolgreichen Umsetzung von Prozessmanagement in der Privatwirtschaft sind nicht ohne weiteres in die Verwaltungspraxis übertragbar. Daher widmen wir uns in einem zweiten Beitrag verschiedenen Umsetzungsstrategien von GPM in der öffentlichen Verwaltung in Europa. Vor dem Hintergrund der derzeitigen Implementierung bzw. des Reifegrads von GPM in einzelnen Verwaltungen ist GPM längst kein integraler Bestandteil der Organisationen. Insbesondere ist die Bereitschaft, Wissen über Geschäftsprozesse zu teilen, ist sehr begrenzt. Wir untersuchen in einem weiteren Beitrag, welche Umstände, Treiber und Hemmnissen den Prozesswissens-Austausch in öffentlichen Organisationen beeinflussen. In einem abschließenden Beitrag stellen wir die wesentlichen Bausteine eines föderalen Informationsmanagements in der öffentlichen Verwaltung in Deutschland dar. Dabei haben wir untersucht, wie Daten und Informationen aus den Bereichen Leistungen, Prozesse und Formulare der öffentlichen Verwaltung miteinander zu kombinieren und zu integrieren sind.<br>Business Process Management (BPM) is already widely used in the private sector. The importance of knowledge management and BPM in the public administration also increases due to the advancing demographic change, the increasing cost pressures, the consequent lack of resources as well as the increased demand of customers for administrative services. Despite a uniform legal framework, the business processes are executed differently in different administrations. There is little exchange of expertise and experience between BPM projects. The goal of the research project “National Process Library” (NPL) is to create a platform to exchange and reuse processes and BPM expertise about and among German administrations. For the dissertation at hand, essential design elements of this platform have been designed and have been subject to a first evaluation. Many findings about the successful implementation of process management in the private sector cannot be directly transferred to the public administration, as there exist important differences. Hence, the second contribution focuses on the different implementation strategies of BPM in public administrations in Europe. The current degree of implementation and maturity of BPM in public administrations is generally low. Many administrations face similar challenges and offer identical or overlapping services. However, the willingness to share knowledge about business processes is very limited. Therefore, the exchange of process knowledge could lead to immense savings. The third contribution investigates the circumstances, drives and inhibitors to improve process knowledge sharing in public organizations. The last contribution represents the essential components of a federal information management in the public administration in Germany. The derived framework combines and integrates data and information from the areas of services, processes and forms of public administrations.

The goal of my work was to design a good working complex of buildings with a diverse functional structure which is missing in Masaryk's district a little. The design is highly influenced by the character of Masaryk's quarter, transport solutions and other factors that emerged from individual territorial analyzes. Crucial to my design was the position of the tram loop. I decided to move the loop to the park, which allowed me to create a quiet square for people and not for transport. Designed apartment houses create block structure by their shape and layout. The site is densely bulit with terraced houses that appear in this locality. Another inspiration for me was the area around Pod kaštany Street. Buildings are designed as a four-storey. The fourth floor is retreated to three-meter to creating roof terraces for flats in last storey. The mass of the house is created by simple blocks with an average size of 72 x 12 m. They are curved at the end to create form a block structure. There is always a 9 m space between these intersections, which forms the entrance to the courtyard. The views of the courtyards repeat the principle of distance between family houses with views of their private gardens. In addition to residential buildings, I have also designed a library with a social center, a town hall that creates a counterbalance to the church of St. Augustine and also a smaller sports hall. All these buildings work together to bring more diversity into Masaryk's neighborhood, whether in terms of civic amenities or social composition of the population.

Small-scale Business Enterprises (SBEs) lack proper mechanisms for supporting the provision and access to business information that can nurture their development in Kenya. This study investigated the role that public libraries could play in supporting the development of SBEs in Meru County with a view to developing a model that would enable public libraries to effectively support the development of SBEs. The study used the pragmatic paradigm to explore the identified phenomena. It applied the mixed methods approach and survey research design; collected data from 355 SBEs, 21 staff from three public libraries and two staff from the enterprise development unit of Meru County. Data was collected using questionnaires, interviews and document analysis. The response rate was 83.4% and 95% for SBEs and public library staff respectively. The descriptive and inferential statistics were used with the help of SPSS and Excel. Thematic analysis was applied on qualitative data. The study found that the factors that influence the development of SBEs are anchored in the environmental, cultural and personality factors of SBEs. SBEs have a myriad of business information needs which are sector-specific and cut across all the stages of business development. To fulfil these needs, most SBEs consult informal information sources and places. Technology-related tools were a popular means of accessing business information. Public libraries were poorly stocked with business information sources while business information services were in a desolate state. The study concludes that public libraries have facilitative and functional roles of providing business information solutions to SBEs by collaborating with like- minded stakeholders. The availability and accessibility of business information sources and services at public libraries is critical in addressing the information needs of SBEs. The study recommends repositioning of public libraries as business community development centres by providing value-based information sources and services. Public libraries need to revise their collection development policy, increase budget allocation, establish business information centres, seek partnerships, improve ICT facilities, ensure adequate staffing, engage business services librarians, open more libraries and widen their business outreach activities for effective support of SBEs. Policy framework and support systems for symmetrical access to business information, and entrepreneurial training for SBEs and for public library staff are needed. The proposed model of public library’s support for the development of SBEs is valuable and contribute to knowledge in business development.<br>Information Science<br>D. Litt. et Phil. The Johnson County Library Makerspace occupies 1700 ft2 (158 m2) of space in the Central Resource Library in Johnson County, Kansas. Originally intended as a modernization of the small business services resource area within the library, the vision for the space quickly pivoted towards a community-based educational experience centered on making. In its original form, the space had one 3D printer and an idea to create a series of summer, mobile maker experiences dispersed amongst the 13 branch libraries. The widely popular mobile makerspace program paved the way to a permanent space for library patrons young and old. The space adheres to the central mission of the library to provide educational experiences for the public. Accordingly, the library has democratized creativity and innovation by providing free access to the equipment and information to the public. The space has reached out to incarcerated youth to inspire them to take up making and use it as a way to build job skills. In addition, the space provides patrons with a pathway to connect and form learning communities around making skills and interest. This chapter explores the Johnson County Library Makerspace.

The strategic planning process in special libraries and information centers is described, with emphasis given to the importance of planning efforts being tightly aligned with the business goals of the parent organization. Success in executing the strategic plan is strongly dependent on developing and polishing skill sets needed by persons active in the workforce today, while concurrently growing leadership and technical talent to meet future challenges. Following a discussion of general characteristics that distinguish special libraries and information centers from academic and public libraries, key concepts related to the strategic planning process in an organizational context are presented. A case study of the strategic planning efforts at a special library, the Illinois Fire Service Institute Library, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, illustrates the process and benefits gained from following the goals and strategies highlighted in the plan. The authors offer insightful recommendations to those involved in the planning process and suggest future research directions.

In the face of public health emergencies, medical libraries provide various types of intelligent knowledge services for relevant users based on the available resources and conditions, and take active actions, which is of great significance for medical libraries to fulfill their original mission and responsibilities with practical actions, expand their business scope and innovate service forms. The intelligent service of medical library for public health emergencies is a typical complex system engineering, which requires the cooperation of staff with different professional knowledge and skills. According to a series of systematic processes, intelligent service uses various types of hardware and software resources to realize intelligent knowledge service and decision support. Based on the WSR system methodology in the field of systems engineering, this paper constructs a medical library’s intelligent service model for public health emergencies. The model is a three-dimensional space structure composed of the physical (Wu in Chinese) dimension (W), the common sense (Shi in Chinese) dimension (S), and the human (Ren in Chinese) dimension (R). The article analyzes and discusses the functions and implementation paths of each dimension in detail.

The concept of e-Government sub-assumes that of digital access to activities of public and private sector organisations. Explicitly, digital access includes improving government processes, connecting citizens, and building external interactions. Following the formation of the inclusive government as determined by the Global Political Agreement (GPA), Zimbabwe established the Ministry of Information Communication Technology whose mission is to promote the deployment and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to intensify national competitiveness and growth. Driving the digital access and e-Government agenda in Zimbabwe is a Modernisation Unit within the Office of the President and Cabinet and the Ministry of Information Communication Technology guided by “Zimconnect,” the e-Government framework, and other enabling instruments. Particular attention is paid to instruments that enable digital access and e-Government in Zimbabwe. The chapter attempts to contextualise digital access and e-Government, outlines e-Government policy objectives and constraints, explains the e-Government framework, including “Zimconnect” and others, and concludes with a section on strategies for enabling digital access and e-Government with a special focus on the possible role of library and information services.

Abstract When organizations operate in different locations, they find themselves having to navigate multiple and competing reputations. This chapter explores how organizations can maintain a positive reputation when facing different pressures. I explore this through the lens of three examples. First, how two business leaders in Zimbabwe and India managed to remain ethical in their business operations, despite the pressure around them to engage in corrupt practices. Second, how the mining giant Rio Tinto discovered mineral deposits in Madagascar which were in high demand around the world, creating a potentially volatile trade-off between global market dynamics and the environment. Third, I look at the challenges a UK library service faced when spinning out of local government to become an independent charity, in a turbulent context of tightening public expenditure and library closures.

Others cluck, tilt their heads, and mutter that life must sure get bleak, scratching out a living on words. The truth lies somewhere between. Among freelancing's perks, flexibility ranks high. I might write about bio-defense one day and mental health the next. I might work in the library, on the porch—or, yes, in my gym clothes. My time is my own. The price for this luxury? Responsibility. Freelances are entrepreneurs. It's our job to find work, negotiate that work, and handle all the business details, from taxes, insurance, and retirement accounts to business cards and printer paper. If you're starting—or nurturing—a freelance science writing career, here are some practical tips to consider along the way. From cloning and stem cells to space exploration, food, and the environment, the visibility of science in society is strong. That's good news for freelances. Don't limit yourself to a handful of poorly paying publications, when you might be growing and learning (not to mention earning a better living) by diversifying. Institutional facilities often determine students’ choice of enrolment into tertiary institution and level of academic performance Rudhumbu,Tirumali and Kumari, (2017). Thus institutions invest more on installation and maintenance of facilities like business enterprise to compete favorably with their counterparts in order to have good number of students and to improve institutional image and status (Gibbs, 2001). Despite institutions stringent requirements of students’ academic results from high school, parents are more concerned of institutional image; safety and campus security. This paper focused on institutional facilities as predictors of students’ choice of enrolment into tertiary institutions for further studies. The study population comprised of year two students in all fields of study from each level of tertiary institutions (college of education, polytechnic and university) in Lagos, Nigeria. It also examined the impact of available facilities ranging from library facilities and services, internet facilities, campus accommodation and proximity to the library and lecture rooms, lecturers experience and academic qualifications are inclusive facilities examined in this study. The study also mirror on the admission requirements of the various schools under study, the structural facilities need of all categories of students in the study; the place of the physically challenged students inclusive. The study adopted survey designed research with the aid of both self structured questionnaire, observation and interview as research instruments for clarification. The services of research assistance hinged on the distribution and collation of questionnaires for the study. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software was used to analyse the data. Conclusion and recommendations was drawn based on the research findings. Keywords: Institutional facilities, library, students’ enrolment.

A könyvtár- és információtudomány kutatási horizontja is egyre tágul, a felsőfokú könyvtárosképzés mindenkori szakmai trendeknek, felhasználói, munkaadói és munkavállalói igényeknek megfelelő alakítása folyamatos. A tanulmány bemutatja a multifunkciós könyvtár olyan modelljét, amelyben szerepet kap a pénzügyi kultúrát és a vállalkozásfejlesztést célzó edukáció is. Napjainkban ugyanis kiemelt jelentőségűek a kellő tájékozottsággal meghozott pénzügyi döntések. Különösen igaz ez hazánkra, ahol a felmérések és a tapasztalatok szerint a lakosság pénzügyi tudatossága fejlesztésre szorul. Kézenfekvő megoldásként jelentkezik Magyarország legnagyobb kulturális intézményrendszerének, a könyvtári hálózatnak a bevonása is a képzésbe. Sanghajtól Londonon át Chicagóig és Phoenixig már számos nemzetközi jó gyakorlattal lehet bizonyítani, hogy a könyvtári hálózat tagjai – kiemelten a nemzeti- és a közkönyvtárak – sikerrel kapcsolhatók be a társadalom pénzügyi műveltségének pallérozásába, ami a könyvtári hálózat társadalmi beágyazottságát és elismertségét erősíti, illetve az esélyegyenlőség támogatásán túl, az állampolgárok és a gazdasági szektor szereplői számára is innovatív megoldásokat hozhat, úgymint például a start-upok alapításának és működtetésének könyvtári-információs támogatása. A közlemény interdiszciplináris megalapozottsággal tárja fel a külföldi bevált gyakorlatokat a nem formális, könyvtári pénzügyi oktatási akciók hazai adaptálása érdekében, nemzetközi kontextusban tárgyalva és rendszerezve az alapvető elméleti (szakirodalmimódszertani) forrásokat és kijelölve a jövőbeli hazai kutatási-fejlesztési irányokat. ----- Multifunctional library and financial education --- - - The scope of the library’s roles and functions has expanded considerably in our digital, global, and multicultural world. The research horizon of library and information science is also constantly broadening; post-secondary librarian training is being continuously shaped to fit current professional trends and the needs of users, employees and employers. This paper introduces a model for the multifunctional library, in which education on financial literacy and business development is also present, since informed financial decisions are of particular importance nowadays. This is especially true in Hungary, where surveys and experience suggest that the population’s financial awareness needs improvement. An obvious solution is to involve in this education the biggest cultural institutional system of Hungary: the library network. There are many international examples of good practices from Shanghai to London, and from Chicago to Phoenix, which prove that members of the library network, especially national and public libraries, can be successfully involved in improving the financial literacy of society, which also increases the social embeddedness and reputation of the library network, and in addition to promoting equal opportunities, it can provide innovative solutions for citizens and for the operators of the economic sector, for instance library and information support for the founding and management of start-ups. This paper explores foreign good practices with an interdisciplinary approach in order to adapt non-formal financial educational library operations in Hungary. It also discusses and organizes the basic theoretical resources (literature and methodology) available in the international context to provide directions for future domestic research and development.

In order to meet the sustainable development demand for energy, developing nuclear power actively has become an important means for the country to improve energy supply pattern and change the energy structure. The normal operation of the nuclear power station brings enormous economic and social benefits, but also accompanied by airborne radioactive effluent and liquid radioactive effluent discharge. In order to estimate the effect of radioactive effluent release during the normal operation of nuclear power plant on radiation dose of the environment and the public, in this article, domain knowledge analysis and domain knowledge modeling will be carried out on the theoretical model of evaluation calculation. Then, combined with actual business logic, advanced software development techniques and mature design ideas will be adopted to realize the field component of radiation dose evaluation in nuclear power plant. Establish the corresponding domain component library, and thus to achieve the building of radiation dose evaluation software system. The main content of this paper will be divided into two parts to elaborate, First part is the domain knowledge analysis and modeling of radiation dose evaluation model of nuclear power plant radiation environment, the other part is based on radiation dose evaluation component library software system researching, designing and achieving. In the domain knowledge analysis of the radiation dose estimation model, due to the mutual independence of the airborne radioactive effluent and the liquid radioactive effluent in the evaluation mode, this paper will analyze and model the domain knowledge separately. The airborne radioactive effluent is divided into four parts: air immersion external exposure, ground deposition external irradiation, ingestion inhalation and inhalation in air. The main contents of the analysis include atmospheric diffusion suitable for environmental characteristics of nuclear power plant site, ground deposition factors, food chain data, and lifestyle habits around the site. In the field of knowledge analysis of liquid radioactive effluent, there are four ways: external marine activity irradiation, coastal deposit sediment irradiation, and irradiation of seafood. The analysis mainly includes dilution and diffusion conditions in the surrounding sea area of nuclear power plant, the radionuclide in the seawater of the receiving water body, the shore sedimentation factor and the transfer model of the radionuclide in the seafood. Based on the detailed analysis and research on the radiation dose evaluation of nuclear power plant, and the designing of the domain model by adopting mature software design idea and the advanced software development technology, the domain component of the radiation dose evaluation field is realized, and build the corresponding domain component library. This can provide a reliable and usable domain component library for the radiation dose evaluation of each nuclear power plant, improve the maintainability of the radiation dose evaluation system of the nuclear power plant, the comprehensibility of business logic, and the reusability of the evaluate module, so as to meet the calculation demands on radiation dose effects of public caused by radionuclide release in normal operation of the nuclear power plant.

e-Learning platforms help users (students / learners, tutors / instructors and administrators) aiming to offer them the information they need in order to develop their educational activities at the right time, following an appropriate format and in the location they desire. Along with the development of Internet, the need for virtual systems that would allow users to migrate data, e-mails, applications etc. has emerged, these virtual systems becoming the Cloud Computing technology. The current paper highlights the results of implementation of a Cloud system dedicated to citizens, public institutions and academia. ICIPRO project (Cloud Infrastructure for Public Institutions in Romania) was implemented at ICI Bucharest with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Open Data and Virtual Library. So far, 32 institutions have been affiliated and are using this Cloud infrastructure, including 4 libraries and 5 universities. The logical architecture of the ICIPRO Cloud system presented in this paper meets the highest business requirements, such as security, availability, ease of administration and resource optimization. In order to accomplish this, the system has been divided into several subsystems, such as: the Infrastructure Management Subsystem that relies on a suite of applications required to manage and monitor the virtualization platform, the dedicated server subsystem where powerful servers can meet requirements specific to mission critical environments, with on-the-fly activation / deactivation of Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA) enabled processing kernels, 2 high-capacity subsystems consisting of high-density servers designed for Cloud Computing environments, that rack up to a high processing capacity and provide high performances, compared to power consumption.

In the decades of the seventeenth and 20th century, the predominant phrase was Computer Science, with ideas and trends that targeted an informational society. Gradually the concept of Information Society has gained ground and has become a reality since the explosion of the Internet, the main vector of this society. This has happened in the last decade of the 20th century. Starting with the 21st century, the concept of the Knowledge Society has moved. New concepts that benefit from the suffix e are discovered and launched every year. From the timely attempts of the 95s to 96s to introduce the concept of e-commerce, 1998-2005 came to the promotion of e-business concepts, e-learning, e-procurement, e-voting, e-democracy, e-referendum, e-library and e-government. Practically starting with 2006 we can talk about the concept of e-everything. That is why the true information society must ensure the legal and social guarantees of every citizen who, anywhere and anytime, can access (receive) all the information necessary for his activity and solve the problems of each individual. If such safeguards do not exist, then society can not be considered informational. It is possible to imagine a society in which industry, public administration and other specialized structures of power will be fully computerized and included in the system of current communication networks, yet information in such a society proves to be a good asset of the administrative and political elite. Whole masses of people, after which their potential creator and social activity can be isolated from the knowledge that is circulating and those created in these networks.
