Se considera la historia indiana del P. José de Acosta en un contexto literario, para definir mejor la innovación'genérica' que supone la división canónica de sus informes en naturales y morales. Se sugieren sus orígenes en las consignas monográficas oficiales, emanadas tanto de la Compañía de Jesús como del Consejode Indias, y se señalan algunas características científicas derivadas de las metáforas frecuentes entre lo natural y lo moral, que recorren la obra. The modal logic S5 gives us a simple technical tool to analyze some main notions from philosophy (e.g. metaphysical necessity and epistemological concepts such as knowledge and belief). Although S5 can be axiomatized by some simple rules, this logic shows some puzzling properties. For example, an interpolation result holds for the propositional version, but this same result fails when we add first-order quantifiers to this logic. Large scale linear time invariant (LTI) systems arise in many physical and technical fields. An approximation, e.g. with model order reduction techniques, of this large systems is crucial for a cost efficient simulation. In this thesis we focus on a model order reduction method based on modal approximation, where the LTI system is projected onto the left and right eigenspaces corresponding to the dominant poles of the system. People are faced with an array of guides and messages that call for ‘ethical’ food choice but little is known about the way such campaigns actually guide conduct. This thesis addresses this knowledge gap by examining an online guide to sustainable seafood and following how this guide is discussed in participatory websites that reveal comparatively different uptakes of the guide. In doing so, the thesis highlights the complex interactive and moral relationships entailed in guiding conduct in the field of food ethics, with insight from this study transferrable to other studies of conduct.
