We developed a new microbeam scanning system for efficient local area analyses and also for micro fabrication. The system accomplished a pattern-to-pattern spacing procedure, in which the microbeam was just scanned with a corresponding pattern of the analyzing sample area or of the fabrication form. Between the patterns, the beam was moved with the fastest responsive scanning speed. In order to set patterns of the analyzing sample in the scanning system, an image of the sample was previously obtained with a scanning transmission ion microscopy (STIM). The evolution and development of eyespot and non-eyespot colour pattern elements was studied in Vanessa butterflies using a phylogenetic approach. A Bayesian phylogeny of the genus Vanessa was reconstructed from 7750 DNA base pairs from 10 genes. Twenty-four non-eyespot and forty-four eyespot color pattern elements from the Nymphalid ground plan were defined and studied and their evolutionary history was traced on the Vanessa phylogeny. A remarkable property of developing organisms is the consistency and robustness within the formation of the body plan. In many animals, morphological pattern formation is orchestrated by conserved signaling pathways, through a process of strict spatio-temporal regulation of cell fate specification. Although morphological patterns have been the focus of both classical and recent studies, little is known about how this robust process is modified throughout evolution to accomodate different morphological adaptations.

Databases provide the foundation of most software systems. This means that system developers will inevitably need to write code to query these databases. The de facto language for querying is SQL and this, consequently, is the language primarily taught by higher education institutions. There is some evidence that learners find it hard to master SQL. These issues and concerns were confirmed by reviewing the literature and establishing the scope and context. Abstract:
Abstract Pattern development involves mapping 3D surfaces into 2D flat patterns. To reduce the complexity of patterns, approximations of the surfaces into polygonal surfaces such as quadrilateral or triangular facets are usually necessary. This paper is concerned with the pattern development of polygonal surfaces with a special reference to bent sheet metal parts. The development process needs to consider the unfoldability of 2D patterns. The unfoldability requires that the 2D pattern does not overlap itself, and the faces of the part do not distort during bending. For some designs, there are

Various approaches for generating woodgrain patterns using computer graphics have been proposed so far. However, the generation of various woodgrain patterns with conventional methods is difficult due to the need for the adjustment of numerous parameters to express a real woodgrain pattern. Virtual trees are generated by simulating tree growing based on past actual weather information obtained from public organizations, and woodgrain patterns are then acquired by cutting the trunks of the virtual trees.
