Zamrud National Park is the peak of the peat dome in the Kampar Peninsula. Peat depth data is needed as a baseline to maintain the balance of the water reservoir and carbon stock. Currently, available peat depth data is predictive photogrammetric data. Soil survey activities need to be carried out to provide accurate and up-to-date data. This research aims to map the peat depth using the best grid interpolation technique. Peat depth measurements were carried out terrestrially, while peat depth mapping used inverse distance weighted, kriging, and spline interpolation techniques. Drilling observ

AbstractOceanic mangroves accumulate peat with sea-level rise without terrestrial sediment inputs, but fossil peat’s elevation as a tide-range limited sea-level indicator is assumed to be affected by compaction. Despite assumption of decomposition, compression, and dewatering, pure Rhizophora mangle peat appears coarse, water-saturated, and loose even at depth. Calibrated peat densities from computed tomography (CT) and petrologic analysis allow quantitative assessment of compaction in continuous peats from Florida (6 m thick), Belize (12 m thick), and Panama (3.5 m thick).

Abstract:
Saperda candida (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is native to the eastern USA and southeastern Canada. It was detected in Germany in 2008, where eradication efforts were undertaken. This beetle primarily infests woody hosts within the Rosaceae family, with Cydonia, Malus and Pyrus being significant cultivated hosts in North America. The larvae cause severe damage by girdling the trunks of young trees, leading to tree death. Improved pest management in the mid-20th century reduced its impact in orchards. Despite being an EPPO A1 Pest and an EU A1 quarantine pest, no classical biological control has b

Abstract:
The 2-lined chestnut borer (Agrilus bilineatus) is a pest native to eastern North America, affecting oak (Quercus spp.) and chestnut (Castanea spp.). The larvae feed under the bark, leading to tree death within one to four years. While primarily a secondary pest attacking stressed trees, it can affect healthy trees during outbreaks. Recently established in Turkey, it poses a significant threat to European oak and chestnut species. There is no history of classical biological control against A. bilineatus. The parasitoid Phasgonophora sulcata, native to North America, shows potential as a biolog

Processes for moisture concentration and temperature at different depths in a rather thick wall with mineral wool insulation are studied with a resolution of 1 minute. Damp processes in walls with thick layers of mineral wool differs a lot depending on the weather conditions. Any modelling of heat and moisture in building constructions need to consider this. The fact that the peaks in moisture concentration in some cases come hours before the peak in temperature is something that takes an explanation. It is possible, but not really sure, that this also may have influence on the risk for damage

To investigate the feasibility of probabilistic analyses of the peak uplift resistance in frozen soils by varying parameters that are known to be important for the development of the uplift resistance under the upward movement of a pipe. A buried pipeline will be subjected to a variety of forces, both internal and external, including the interaction of the pipe with the surrounding soil. The soil-pipe interaction in permafrost regions have to account for the behavior of frozen and unfrozen soil, and transitions between the two as the pipeline traverses in a discontinuous permafrost zone. The application of plasma polymerized silicon-based coatings on plastic substrates is an effective way to adjust the permeability of the substrate. However, the permeation mechanisms are yet not fully understood. Here, the activation energy of permeation can offer valuable insights. In order to understand how the activation energy of permeation depends on the coating structure, five silicon-based coatings with varying oxygen content were analyzed, which led to property modifications ranging from silicon-oxidic to silicon-organic. Climate warming is expected to degrade permafrost in many regions of the world. Degradation of permafrost has the potential to affect soil thermal, hydrological, and vegetation regimes. Projections of long-term effects of climate warming on high-latitude ecosystems require a coupled representation of soil thermal state and hydrological dynamics. Such a coupled framework was developed to explicitly simulate the soil moisture effects of soil thermal conductivity and heat capacity and its effects on hydrological response. The Mooshla Intrusive Complex (MIC) is an Archean polyphase magmatic body located in the Doyon-Bousquet-LaRonde (DBL) mining camp of the Abitibi greenstone belt, Québec, that is spatially associated with numerous gold (Au)-rich VMS, epizonal 'intrusion-related' Au-Cu vein systems, and shear zone-hosted (orogenic?)
