Over time, however, when Fordism failed to compress the growth of complexity (after 1970), the experimentation of forms of networked (flexible, creative) labour became necessary. Abstract. This article presents the transformations undergone in recent decades by the vernacular Andean housing of the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. This architectural typology is a product of the Andean worldview, where architecture and materials (stone or adobe walls and vegetation-based roofs) respond both to the adverse desert climate of this part of the Andes Mountain and the intense Chilean seismic activity. The characteristics of this housing, which had been preserved for around five centuries, have rapidly transformed in just a few decades due to global economic, political, and so

Abstract The ability to quantify well performance individually and real-time across most if not all wells in a given field is a capability that bridges the gap between production and reservoir management. Having real-time oil, gas and water flow measurements from each well distributed across a reservoir has the potential to enable significant improvements in data driven and scalable production/reservoir surveillance and optimization. Traditionally, test separators offer the ability to perform well testing but the process is discontinuous, relatively infrequent and labor intensive. Over the las

Abstract:
The Technical Note provides an overview of labor market outcomes in Belize and a review of labor market institutions and regulations. The study considers various perspectives on Belize's market and concludes that prevailing labor market regulations, institutions and labor supply do not appear as binding constraints on achieving more rapid economic growth. Nevertheless, labor market regulations, institutions and labor supply can be improved upon, especially laws and regulations that are no longer appropriate for 21st century circumstances.

Abstract:
This paper explores the links between labor formality, access to credit and firm performance in Colombia using Annual Manufacturing Survey data for the period 2000-2009. A significant though small relationship is found between access to credit and informality. The results suggest that a 10 percent increase in the ratio of credit to sectoral output increases labor formality between 0. 76 and 1. 14 percentage points. This effect vanishes as a firm's financial constraint increases. The paper also reports a strong correlation between labor formality and firm performance measured as output and empl

Abstract:
This paper study the issue of institutional enforcement of regulations by focusing on labor-market policies and their potential link to economic performance. It test the different impacts of enforceable and non-enforceable labor regulations by proxying non-enforceable labor rigidity measures using data on conventions from the International Labor Organization (ILO). It has been argued that non-enforceable conventions -that is, those that exist on paper and are simply de jure regulations -appear to be more distortionary and tend to be the least enforced in practice (Squire and Suthiwart-Narueput
