Abstract:
This paper presents mathematical expressions for the surface geometry of variable pitch cylindrical cams with four conical meshing elements based on the theory of conjugate surfaces. The unit normal of the element is derived, with given surface geometry of the meshing element, by differential geometry. The contact lines of the conjugate surface are defined according to the equation of meshing and the specified input-output relation. By the coordinate transformation of contact lines, we have the complete profile of the variable pitch cylindrical cam. The results of this work are instrumental in

Hence, a proper rugby boot assumes paramount importance in enhancing sprinting capabilities. However, the tropical climate conditions in Malaysia, with high temperatures, humidity and heavy rainfall, possess the potential to rapidly degrade rugby pitch conditions, thereby exerting a pronounced impact on sprinting performance. In the present report, we have developed a tactile sensor with fingerprint-like array of contactors for obtaining the surface distribution of tactile information in high spatial resolutions. Six high resolution sensing modules of contactors with biaxial detectors were integrated in line at a pitch of 500 μm, the typical pitch of fingerprint ridges. Each sensing module independently detected the micro surface shape and locally generated frictional force on the object surfaces. Mechanical analysis of the fabricated sensors showed good sensitivities and highly linear responses. Consequently, the

Chatter vibrations result in reduced productivity, poor surface finish and decreased cutting tool life. Milling cutters with nonconstant pitch angles can be very effective in improving stability against chatter. In this paper, an analytical stability model and a design method are presented for nonconstant pitch cutters. An explicit relation is obtained between the stability limit and the pitch variation which leads to a simple equation for determination of optimal pitch angles. A certain pitch variation is effective for limited frequency and speed ranges which are also predicted by the model.

Talc is used in the pulp and paper industry as a filler pigment, in control of pitch (lipophilic extractives) deposits and as a coating pigment. A deeper understanding of talc interactions will be beneficial in optimizing its use.
