Abstract: Symptoms and severity of malaria infection differ between adults and children. Severe malaria is more common in children than in adults. Severe malaria cases in children can give clinical manifestations that are more fatal, severe and even death. Introduction: Complications of malaria can develop suddenly and unexpectedly. Although various parameters have been associated with severity of malaria, they have not been studied as predictors of these events. Many of the malarial complications are inflammatory in nature, and C-reactive protein (CRP) and elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) could be early markers of these complications and might precede and predict the development of complications. Malaria claims millions of lives annually. This global killer causes approximately 2.7 million annual deaths worldwide; addressing this problem has become more and more crucial. Due to pathogen evolution no efficient vaccine for treatment of malaria currently exists. As infection has developed as a field of study, it became ever more clear that infections could only be understood within the context of the host-pathogen community. The resistance of the parasite to all antimalarial drugs on the market emphasises the urgent need to identify new drug targets. Abstract:
Federal, state, and non-governmental partners resurveyed landbirds in the Ka?? Rainforest on the Island of Hawai?i in 2019. Point-transect distance sampling was conducted in Hawai?i Volcanoes National Park, Ka?? Forest Reserve, Kap?pala Forest Reserve, and Kap?pala Cooperative Game Management Area. This is the first comprehensive survey of the region since 2008. Through a collaborative effort, monitoring transects were consolidated to provide a consistent, repeatable sampling frame for future surveys. We estimated landbird distribution, density, and abundance for eight surveys since 1976. Chan

Abstract:
Relationships between biological activity and molecular properties of 68 antimalarial artemisinin compounds were investigated in the quantitative manner. All compounds were geometrically optimized at the HF/3-21G level. Totally 102 molecular properties covering hydrophobicity, polarizability, electronic, and steric parameters were calculated from the optimized structures. The activities against 2 different strains of malarial parasites, D-6 and W-2, were taken from the literatures. Statistical analyses were performed to find the relationships between the activities and the calculated molecular
