Abstract:
This article is devoted to professionally-oriented reading in the foreign language at the transport university. The author analyses the main difficulties arising in students' work with authentic texts in the English language. The difficulties that hinder adequate perception of the text information can be presented in two main groups: 1) linguistic peculiarities of English texts; 2) undeveloped reading skills. The analysis of specific mistakes made by students will help identify effective methods of teaching professionally-oriented reading in English at universities.
