Background: Chronic energy deficiency is a condition that occurs due to the deficiency of energy and protein intake to the needs over a long period of time. Chronic energy deficiency often occurs in adolescence, especially adolescent girls. Chronic energy deficiency can be caused by many factors including lack of energy intake, protein intake and body image. The purpose of study was to examine the relationship energy intake, protein intake, and body image with the prevalenceof chronic energy deficiency in adolescent girls. Methods: The method used was a scoping review approach. Studies of dietary intake on an individual level show that foods high in protein are particularly subject to skewed intra-familial distribution, with adult males receiving a disproportionate share. Energy and protein are the two important nutrients required by the livestock for their growth, maintenance, reproduction and lactation. When these nutrients are readily available, the animal prioritizes maintenance needs. However, deficiencies can arise due to soil depletion, climate conditions, or seasonal variations, leading to negative energy balance in the body. This imbalance can trigger various diseases, ultimately compromising the growth, reproductive health, milk production, and overall well-being of the animal.

In fact the problem is one of energy shortage, not protein deficiency.
