This paper reports quantitative research on the parts of speech of English words using the data from British National Corpus. Most of the part-of-speech investigations focus on the rank-frequency distribution. However, in English and many other languages, we can find that partd of speech can be ambiguous. For example, hope can be a noun and a verb. Such words are called polyfunctional words, while other words, which belong to only one part of speech, are called monofunctional words. The number of parts of speech that a word belongs to is referred to as polyfunctionality. First, we study polyfu

Mathematical logic and automata theory are two scientific disciplines with a close relationship that is not only fundamental for many theoretical results but also forms the basis of a coherent methodology for the verification and synthesis of computing systems. This connection goes back to a much longer history in the 1960s, through the fundamental work of Büchi-Elgot-Trakhtenbrot, which shows the expressive equivalence of automata and logical systems such as monadic second-order logic on finite and infinite words. Abstract:
Entrepreneurship is crucial to advancing the economy of Cambodia and fostering the development of society. The Royal Government of Cambodia has recognised the importance of entrepreneurship and included the promotion and entrepreneurship education in multiple policies and strategy. Universities and higher education institutes have been more active in providing entrepreneurship education (EE) as well as services and facilities to support startups in recent years. However, to date, there is very limited research on how young people in Cambodia perceive and prepare for entrepreneurial careers. Th

García, Pilar, and Diego Torres. Perceiving central bank communications through press coverage. Banco de España, 2025. https://doi.org/10.53479/38922.

Abstract:
We present evidence suggesting that a simple measure of central bank communication tone, as perceived and interpreted by the media, correlates with the performance of financial assets and market participants’ expectations. This correlation appears even stronger than that of indices constructed using more complex models, such as a large language models like BERT. We employ a straightforward quantitative index, inspired by the well-known Baker, Bloom and Davis (2016) paper, using a “bag of words” approach and semantic orientation to measure this media-perceived tone orientation in terms of dovis

How to accurately predict toxicity of PFAS with varied carbon chain length is important for treatment and sequential removal from drinking water. Abstract:
Using theoretical and empirical methods, this paper proves that the modern mediaenvironment is a complex configuration made by the material and the virtual components and is reflected in the language in various ways. Innovative lexis with the component media and its systematization has become the key to understanding the mediareality, in particular, detecting the constituent elements of the structure of the mediatized environment. In total, 455 lexemes chosen from the Ukrainian dictionaries, academic publications, and the results provided by Google search engine have been analyzed. The systema

Abstract:
This report provides a descriptive overview of the quantitative baseline data collected in January and February 2022 for a research project evaluating a complex social intervention to reduce and redistribute women’s unpaid care work (UCW) in Rwanda using homegrown solutions. The intervention aims to reduce and redistribute UCW undertaken by women in Rwanda's rural areas, thereby improving their quality of life and increasing their empowerment. The findings discussed in this report are from a survey of intervention and control households and 7-day time diaries completed by husbands and wives in

Abstract:
With the proliferation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) over the past decade, demand for quantitative analysis of their likely impacts has surged. The main quantitative tool for performing such analysis is Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modeling. Yet these models have been widely criticized for performing poorly (Kehoe, 2002) and having weak econometric foundations (McKitrick, 1998; Jorgenson, 1984). FTA results have been shown to be particularly sensitive to the trade elasticities, with small trade elasticities generating large terms of trade effects and relatively modest efficiency gain

Full text
Abstract:
This study investigates the degree to which underrepresented construction contractors face challenges in California's zero-emission transportation sector to devise a simpler and more efficient bonding structure. Using a survey dispersed over underrepresented businesses across the state, the study provides several suggestions for a statewide bonding program that caters to the needs of contractors. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used in the study. The survey data are evaluated using econometric tools to analyze whether there are any statistically significant associations between c
