Scots pine blister rust and red ring rot are common on Scots pine throughout its entire range. Specialists do not explain a significant variation in the prevalence of the diseases uniquely since it depends on complex ecological and silvicultural factors. The aim of this research is to study the influence of forest growth conditions on the incidence of Scots pine blister rust and red ring rot in pine stands of the Priangarye (territory located along the lower reaches of the Angara within the Krasnoyarsk Krai). Brazil is the world’s largest producer of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum), but the occurrence and severity of diseases such as orange rust (Puccinia kuehnii), ring spot (Leptosphaeria sacchari), and red rot (Colletotrichum falcatum) could be part of several factors limiting its production and is the reason for replacing cultivars. It is important to use other forms of disease control depending on the time required to obtain new resistant varieties. The use of silicon (Si) can provide more resistance to the plant making its less vulnerable to diseases. A study was conducted under gr

In this paper the results of laboratory investigation on the range of wood decay caused by Heterobasidion annosum (Fr.) Bref. and Phellinus pini (Brot.) Bondartsev & Singer are described. Wood samples obtained from 25 different, both European and exotic tree species were used as the experimental substrate. The wood samples were exposed to mycelia of tested fungi for 30, 60 and 90 days, and subsequently the loss of their weight was assessed. The results showed a range of trophic preferences of H. annosum and P. pini. Better understanding of these processes could be useful in development of

A general relation between the minimum of the mode radius ωmin in the crystal rod and the range of the dioptric power ΔD of the thermal lens for which the resonator is stable, has been derived in ref. Abstract Drilling dysfunction causes premature failure of bits and motors in hard formations. Dysfunctions may be influenced by; bit design, bottom hole assembly (BHA) design, rig control systems, connection practices, and rotating head use. Sensors that record weight, torque, and vibration in the bit can offer insights that are not detectable further up the BHA. By understanding the root causes before the next bit run, it is possible to rapidly improve performance and prolong bit life. Abstract High-Speed Low-Pressure Turbines are one key turbomachinery component in ultra-high bypass ratio geared turbofan engines. The High-Speed Low-Pressure Turbine (HS-LPT) typically operates at transonic exit Mach numbers and low Reynolds numbers. These flow regimes are prone to boundary layer instabilities such as separations on the suction side, leading to a significant increase in losses. It is therefore essential to understand the operation of LPTs and, more specifically, the behaviour of the boundary layer on the blades in such environments.
