Abstract:
Partially restricting access to objects enables system designers to finely control the security of their systems. We propose a novel approach that allows granting partial access at method granularity on arbitrary objects to remote clients, using proxy objects. Our initial approach considers methods to be either safe (may be invoked by anyone) or unsafe (may be invoked only by trusted users). We next generalize this approach by supporting Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for methods in objects. In our approach, a policy implementer annotates methods, interfaces, and classes with roles. Martin, Karl. "Secure Wavelet-based Coding of Images, and Application to Privacy Protected Video Surveillance." Thesis, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/1807/26206.

Abstract:
The protection of digital images and video from unauthorized access is important for a number of applications, including privacy protection in video surveillance and digital rights management for consumer applications. However, traditional cryptographic methods are not well suited to digital visual content. Applying standard encryption approaches to the entire content can require significant computational resources due to the large size of the data. Furthermore, digital images and video often need to be manipulated, such as by resizing or transcoding, which traditional encryption would hinder.

Such control-flow hijacking attacks exploit a gap between high level language semantics and the machine language that they are compiled to. In particular, systems</div><div>software such as web browsers and servers are implemented in C/C++ which provide no runtime safety guarantees, leaving memory and type safety exclusively to programmers. Eloff, Corné. "Spatial technology as a tool to analyse and combat crime." Thesis, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/10500/1193.

Abstract:
This study explores the utilisation of spatial technologies as a tool to analyse and combat crime. The study deals specifically with remote sensing and its potential for being integrated with geographical information systems (GIS). The integrated spatial approach resulted in the understanding of land use class behaviour over time and its relationship to specific crime incidents per police precinct area. The incorporation of spatial technologies to test criminological theories in practice, such as the ecological theories of criminology, provides the science with strategic value. It proves t
