Results on the incompatible elements geochemistry of three iron slag types is presented. An attempt at provenance studies is given between bog iron ores and roasted iron ores, as well as between ores and iron slags. Such

Abstract:
The sandstone composition of foreland basin has a wide range of provenance signatures, reflecting the interplay between flexed underplate region and abrupt growth of the accreted upper plate region. The combination of contrasting detrital signatures reflects these dual plate interactions; indeed, several cases figure out that the earliest history of older foreland basin infilling is marked by quartz-rich sandstones, with cratonal or continental-block provenance of the flexed underplate flanks. As upper plate margin grows over the underplate, the nascent fold-and-thrust belt starts to be the ma

The research aims to examine the pace of growth of lodgepole pine, the amount of damage caused by biungulates and the quality of trunks for lodgepole pine provenances growing in the western part of Latvia in the areas around Ugale and Kuldiga, identifying the most damage-resistant and promising provenances for cultivation in Latvia. In Latvia, foresters and plant breeders have been working for years to increase the quality and productivity of local tree species, while assessing various forest stand management patterns and trying to reduce the rotation period of stands. Abstract:
To maintain the navigability of the Calcasieu Ship Channel (CSC), the US Army Corps of Engineers annually dredges millions of cubic yards of sediment from the inland channel. To assess sources of channel shoaling, a previous study examined river and bankline erosion as inputs. Results from that study accounted for approximately 20% of dredged volumes. Through the support of the Regional Sediment Management Program, a follow-up investigation reviewed prior sediment budgets, identified potential missing sediment sources, modeled potential sediment pathways, and utilized geochemical fingerprintin

Dust particles carry microbial and chemical signatures from source regions to deposition regions. Dust and its occupying microorganisms are incorporated into, and can alter, snowpack physical properties including snow structure and resultant radiative and mechanical properties that in turn affect larger-scale properties, including surrounding hydrology and maneuverability. Microorganisms attached to deposited dust maintain genetic evidence of source substrates and can be potentially used as bio-sensors. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of dust-associated microbial depo

Fluvial sandstone in the Kilohigok and Elu basins of western Nunavut record deposition related to the amalgamation and tenure of the Nuna supercontinent. The ca. 1.9 Ga Burnside River Formation was sourced by erosional unroofing of the nearly coeval Thelon Orogen, about 250 km away, in a regime of crustal flexure. This proximally sourced sandstone contains abundant clustered channel forms that point to high-magnitude discharge and sediment yield in weakly mobile channels. By comparison, the ca. 1.6 Ga Ellice Formation was sourced by the erosional unroofing of the ca. 1.8 Ga Trans-Hudson Orogen
