Abstract:
Since wireless sensor networks are energy constrained, introducing a method that facilitates the efficient use of the available energy in each node is a fundamental design issue. In this work, a mechanism to monitor the residual energy of sensor networks is proposed. The information about the residual energy of each sensor node in the network is saved in a special node called monitoring node. This information can be used as input to other applications to prolong the network lifetime. Each sensor node in the network uses the proposed prediction-based model to forecast its energy consumption rat

The Laplacian energy of a graph is the sum of the distances of the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix of the graph to the graph's average degree. The maximum Laplacian energy over all graphs on n nodes and m edges is conjectured to be attained for threshold graphs. We prove the conjecture to hold for graphs with the property that for each k there is a threshold graph on the same number of nodes and edges whose sum of the k largest Laplacian eigenvalues exceeds that of the k largest Laplacian eigenvalues of the graph. We call such graphs spectrally threshold dominated. These graphs include spl

If the threshold is exceeded, it is decided that signal(s) is (are) present. Energy detectors (radiometers) are often used due to their simplicity and good performance. Abstract:
Today, climate change is one of the world's greatest challenges. The main cause of this is humans' emissions of greenhouse gases, which for instance occur when burning fossil fuels. A prerequisite for meeting this challenge is that society change the way energy is produced and used. In the pursuit of fighting climate change, it is therefore crucial to create awareness among people regarding energy use. The purpose of this thesis project is to design a cultivation unit which uses residual heat. In this way, we aim to create awareness regarding the reuse of energy that would otherwise be wasted

Abstract:
Hybrid pixel detectors have been demonstrated to provide excellent quality detection of ionising photon radiation, particularly in X-ray imaging. Recently, there has been interest in developing a hybrid pixel detector specifically for photon dosimetry. This thesis is on the design, implementation, and preliminary characterisation of the Dosepix readout chip. Dosepix has 256 square pixels of 220 mm side-length, constituting 12.4 mm2 of photo-sensitive area per detector. The combination of multiple pixels provides many parallel processors with limited input flux, resulting in a radiation dose mo

Abstract:
Doubly cross-linked gels were fabricated based on tetra-poly(ethylene glycol) (Tetra-PEG) by shear strain. These are gels with two network structures present in the same polymeric network. The second network structure is introduced by applying a mechanical field to the first natural network structure. These doubly cross-linked gels indicated a negative energy elasticity supporting earlier findings where the energy elasticity was found significantly negative for Tetra-PEG gel. Acquired results indicate implications for past research on the elasticity of polymer gels where the energy contributio
