Abstract:
Resin tapping was pioneered five decades ago since the Laxmi Tapping industry started tapping in western Nepal in 1973. Resin tapping is acknowledged as a cost-effective, viable, and adjuvant source of income for rural people with the potentiality for payment for ecosystem services (PES) outside the resin tapping period. This paper explores the SWOT analysis of resin tapping and future pathways to improve this enterprise in Nepal. The systematic and comprehensive literature search was conducted in Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Scopus; and PRISMA flowchart summarizes the search str

Aim of study: To optimize the timing of resin-tapping activities for maximizing the economic efficiency of resin tapping in Atlantic maritime pine forests. Area of study: Northern Spain. Material and methods: We conducted three small experiments in a mature maritime pine forest aimed to test: i) the impact of groove frequency on resin production, ii) the effect of previous grooves as a driver of temporal patterns of resin production along the seasons and iii) the impact of previous tapping on resin production in the following campaign. Main results: The resin produced decreased as groove frequ

The background of the problem in this research is the income earned by the pine resin tapping farmers which has decreased every year due to several factors. The type of research used in this research is field research, namely research conducted in the field with farmers tapping pine resin using purposive sampling method which conducts in-depth interviews with farmers tapping pine resin as resource persons. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors causing the decline in the income of farmers tapping pine resin in Jorong Talago Gunuang. The results of this study indicate that the fac

Abstract The study makes an attempt to evaluate the effect of resin-tapping on the radial increment of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Increment cores were taken from two groups of trees: resin-tapped trees and normal trees growing in a 148-year-old pine stand in the Lidzbark Forest District. The cores were taken with the Pressler increment borer from two heights on the tree trunk: 1,30 m and 3,30 m. Using dendrochronological methods, real chronologies were built for each of the four analysed groups of cores. The value and variability of increments for each group were investigated in 20 and

The use of unsustainable harvesting methods and a lack of understanding of the factors influencing their production have led to a decline in natural populations of resin-producing species. This study aimed to identify the dendrometric, edaphoclimatic, physiological, and resin extraction method variables with the greatest influence on resin yield in Bursera bipinnata using correlation analysis and multiple linear regression. Aim of study: To assess the effect of prescribed underburning (PB) and tapping on resin yields in maritime pine stands. We hypothesized that PB reduces fire hazard, generates stress at the cambium level and potentially increases the number of resin canals and resin yield after tapping. Area of study: Northern Plateau of the Iberian Peninsula, central-eastern Spain. Material and methods: Six 50 m x 50 m plots were established in a Pinus pinaster Ait. stand, three of which were burned and tapped in 2018 and three controls plots (tapped only). Resin yield was monitored in 90 trees over four years

Different types of freshening tools developed were evaluated in actual field conditions for resin tapping from Pinus caribaea trees. The developed tools were user friendly. The tools were evaluated for freshening holes made for tapping resin using bore hole technique from P. caribaea. Use of all the developed freshening tools led to increase in resin yield over control. Out of different freshening tools developed and tested, hand operated augur type tool showed appreciable increase in resin yield up to the third freshening and is recommended for use in the resin tapping operation of bore hole

Pine resin is a non-timber forest product, which has the potential to be developed in Indonesia. One of the pine resin products is gondorukem which has a very wide market. The purpose of this study was to determine the best tapping method, in order to obtain optimal production of pine resin tapping in three age classes of pine trees, namely age classes III, IV and V. The results showed that the average yield of pine resin tapping with the quare method was 18 ,88 gr and drill method 17,77 gr. Meanwhile, the highest average production of sap in age class III was 26.11 g and the lowest was in age

Abstract We present in this paper a nanolithographic method by introducing a local photo-polymerization in the proximity of tapered optical fiber tip immersed in photocurable resin. The metallic apertured tip, when approached to a solid substrate at a few nanometers distance, delivers UV light to the vicinity of the tip apex and forms a subwavelength light source. The confined light source permits the polymerization to occur locally at the tip extremity, thus allowing generation of micronic/nanometric polymer features. This interphase’s properties have not been given enough attention in the literature, and the purpose of this study is to investigate the interphase properties experimentally and analytically.
