<p>With the continuous development of cities, the urban roads built in the early days can no longer meet the needs of modern urban transportation. Therefore, in the current urban development and construction process, the reconstruction of old roads is the key construction content. At the same time, the transformation of old urban roads is also an inevitable requirement to improve the urban road system and improve the level of urban communication infrastructure construction and transportation service capacity. The reconstruction of old roads meets the requirements of the overall planning

Traditional road extraction algorithms, which focus on improving the accuracy of road surfaces, cannot overcome the interference of shelter caused by vegetation, buildings, and shadows. In this paper, we extract the roads via road centerline extraction, road width extraction, broken centerline connection, and road reconstruction. We use a multiscale segmentation algorithm to segment the images, and feature extraction to get the initial road. The fast marching method (FMM) algorithm is employed to obtain the boundary distance field and the source distance field, and the branch backing-tracking

Abstract The most severe asphalt-covered damage is observed in the Indrapuri Sub-district, which has 33 regency roads with total lengths of 105.90 km. In this location, 18 segments at 47.30 km (44.66%) are found to have severe damage. Based on the limited budget of Aceh Besar Regency Government, the determination of the reconstruction priorities for damaged roads in Indrapuri is very necessary. Therefore, this study aims to determine the dominant criteria that should be considered in road reconstruction. The presented 3D reconstruction method with obstacle detection feedback can avoid this problem. Three techniques are developed in this dissertation to establish the proposed approach. The first technique is proposed to reconstruct the degenerate near-planar road surface into 3D from one camera. Unlike the traditional Structure from Motion (SfM) technique which has the degeneracy issue for near-planar object 3D reconstruction, the uniqueness of the proposed technique lies in the use of near-planar characteristics of surfaces in the 3D
