Abstract:
Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) is a high-risk signal of acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease, indicates a significant increase in the risk of ischemic stroke, especially within 7 days. Risk assessment and stratification are important in patient with TIA. A variety of simple prediction scales were developed based on the risk factors for stroke in patients with TIA, such as the California scale, ABCD scale, and ABCD2 scale. Among them, the ABCD scale score is used most commonly, but as its application becomes more and more common, the defects of this scale are also increasingly apparent. In r

The Clinical Analysis Questionnaire (CAQ) was designed to measure both normal and pathological traits in order to facilitate diagnosis and treatment planning simultaneously. One problem that appears to limit the CAQ's usefulness is the use of 10-point normalized standard score conversion tables. First, the use of a 10-point scale appears to be too restrictive for scales designed to differentiate among various clinical syndromes. For many scales, a range of two or three raw score standard deviations is represented by a single standard score. Second, the assumption of an underlying normal distri

This is a necessary step in establishing the usefulness of a measure, but it is not sufficient. To illustrate the difference, imagine that we are trying to develop a new index to measure the degree of headache pain. The topics covered include whether or not to weight each of the items to reflect its supposed importance. Another consideration is whether items should be weighted differently for each person based on their salience or importance to that individual. Related to this is ‘implicit’ weighting, where various subscales of an instrument have differing numbers of items. It is rare, compared to other more common mineral scales, such as CaCO3, but its formation and deposition onto critical equipment surfaces can be problematic. Control approaches usually include: (a) removal of “soluble” and colloidal silica before entering the water system, and (b) use of chemical scale inhibitors/dispersants. Nevertheless, silica scale inhibition is not easy because of the chemical nature of colloidal silica. Silica is a random, three-dimensional polymer that forms by propagation

Abstract During oil and gas production, scaling is a flow assurance problem commonly experienced in most regions. For scale control to be effective and less expensive, accurate prediction of scaling immediately deposition commences is important. This paper provides a model for the prediction of Barium Sulphate (BaSO4) and Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) oilfield scales built using machine learning. Thermodynamic and compositional properties including temperature, pressure, PH, CO2 mole fraction, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and ion compositions of water samples from wells where BaSO4 and CaCO3 scal

Brief, reliable instruments are critical for mental health care providers to efficiently capture psychometrically sound and clinically useful information during in-person and telehealth service provision. This study used data from 949 community clinic patients with primary anxiety and depressive disorders. We developed a shortened (6-item) form of the English and Spanish versions of the 21-item Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales (DASS) for in-person, telehealth, and hybrid mental health services using moderated nonlinear factor analysis, designed to maintain maximum reliability across the

Colleges, universities, and secondary schools around the world are using the Duolingo English Test (DET) as a new way to assess English language proficiency. The DET offers many advantages to admissions offices and applicants: on-demand accessibility, low cost, remote test proctoring, and rapid score reporting, as well as an integrated video interview and writing sample. The DET also looks and functions differently from other proficiency tests, which raises an obvious question. If DET item types and administration differ from those used on other large scale tests like the TOEFL® or IELTS®, can
