AbstractWe analyse the chromospherical activity of stars with extrasolar planets and search for a possible correlation between the equivalent width of the core of the Ca II K line and orbital parameters of the planet. We found statistically significant evidence that the equivalent width of the Ca II K line reversal, which originates in the stellar chromosphere, depends on the orbital period Porb of the exoplanet. Planets orbiting stars with Teff < 5 500 K and with Porb < 20 days generally have much stronger emission than planets at similar temperatures but at longer orbital periods. Porb

IR spectroscopy with a resolution ⋋/△⋋ ≳ 10, 000 is a powerful technique for the investigation of short-periodic giant extra-solar planets. For an unambiguous direct detection attempt one exploits the large-amplitude Doppler modulation of the planet's IR spectrum. A successful measurement of the planet's radial velocity amplitude would yield directly the planet-star mass ratio. Spectral information can be extracted if high per-pixel S/N levels are achieved.

Abstract Following Shin et al. We find four new planets and seven planet candidates that were buried in the KMTNet archive. The search for life has had a new enthusiastic restart in the last two decades thanks to the large number of new worlds discovered. The about 4100 exoplanets found so far, show a large diversity of planets, from hot giants to rocky planets orbiting small and cold stars. Most of them are very different from those of the Solar System and one of the striking case is that of the super-Earths, rocky planets with masses ranging between 1 and 10 M ⊕ with dimensions up to twice those of Earth. While Kepler has shown that small rocky planets and planetary systems are quite common, the quest to find Earth's closest cousins and characterize their atmospheres presses forward with missions such as NASA Explorer Program's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite

Gravitational microlensing may be used to probe distant stars for planetary companions. The presence of a planet in the vicinity of a star acting as the lens may cause a short lived anomaly in the observed lightcurve of the lensing event. By quantifying these anomalies we may place limits on the mass of the companion relative to the lens as well as the position of the planet relative to the primary lens. The detection probability is proportional to mp, where mp is the planet mass. All current follow-up teams use dedicated observations on a preselected sample of mainly high-amplification events

This integration can occur via either non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) into the break or homologous recombination (HR) between the broken genomic DNA and the introduced vector. Abstract:
Background Written action plans providing guidance in the early treatment of asthma exacerbations have traditionally advocated doubling of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) as one of the first steps in treatment. Objectives To compare the clinical effectiveness of increasing the dose of ICS versus keeping the usual maintenance dose as part of a patientinitiated action plan at the onset of asthma exacerbations. Search methods We searched the Cochrane Airways Group Specialised Register (last search October 2009) which is derived from searches of CENTRAL, MEDLINE, EMBASE and CINAHL, as well as handse
