The two concepts define a different reality in terms of reflected content and type of knowledge, promoted epistemologically. Their association requires highlighting their specific dimensions, pedagogical and psychological, as approached from a distinct as well as complimentary perspective. Pedagogically, the connection between education and identity highlights the importance of the formation/self-formation of a learner’s (student’s) self-consciousness, as the pedagogical and psychological premise for achieving the qualitative leap from education to self-education – the main d

This thesis introduces the original idea that it is possible, and productive, to consider the ‘blending’ of (or deliberate creative combining of methods from) the fields of fine art practice and science practice, using selected empirical research methods to investigate constructions of self and self-identity that emerge between disciplines. In particular, the thesis investigates how the scientific aspects of modern computer games, for instance, can be seen to affect emotional responses from viewers and how those responses are, in turn, affected by the ‘blending’ of aesthetic concerns with cons
