This study investigated principal’s mentoring skill as a correlate of teachers’ job performance in Senior Secondary Schools in Adamawa State, Nigeria. Three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0. 05 level of significance. The study employed a correlational research design. The population of the study included 5,558 academic personnel (i.e. 337 school principals and 5,221 teachers) in senior secondary schools that are stationed in all the five education zones in Adamawa state. The sample size for this study was 556 academic personnel (i.e. 522 teachers and 34 p

Ukraine is a multinational and multicultural country. Though Ukrainian scientists have studied the issue of multicultural education from different aspects, nevertheless, there is no special or ideal model of multicultural education. That is why we decided to monitor the students’ multicultural education state at secondary schools of Ukraine. In order to identify the state of multicultural education in Ukrainian schools we conducted an empirical study in schools of Cherkasy region among primary, secondary and senior level students. The main method was determined as questionnaire, which is provi

Abstract:
Concept maps are powerful tools for representing understanding of a concept. After designing a teaching sequence for the statistics content of a senior secondary mathematics syllabus, pre- service teachers were asked to prepare a concept map to demonstrate their understanding of the connection between the different concepts that had been included in the sequence. The concept maps prepared by the pre-service teachers were analysed in relation to what connections were made and the quality of the connecting statements. Results showed that these pre-service teachers had very different perceptions

Abstract:
We analyze the relationship between education and employment in Suriname, using data from a 2007 IDB household survey (representative nationally and at the level of three macro areas: Urban Coast, Rural Coast and Interior). We find that education brings returns in terms of both likelihood of employment (particularly for women) and higher earnings. Completed primary, junior secondary, senior secondary and tertiary education increase the probability of employment by 12%, 19%, 86% and 84% respectively, relative to the base category of no-schooling or incomplete primary. Socioeconomically disadvantaged students (i.e. those whose scores on a constructed measure of social and cultural capital are below a specified cut-off, usually the 25th percentile) have been found to be more likely to drop out of school, repeat a grade, achieve lower levels at senior secondary school, and score lower on tests such as the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Despite this association between socioeconomic disadvantage and poorer outcomes related to education, a percentage of students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds enjoy success at school. The proposed project aims to enhance tree fruit identification and targeting for robotic harvesting through the selection of appropriate sensor technology, sensor fusion, and visual servo-control approaches. These technologies will be applicable for apple, orange and grapefruit harvest, although specific sensor wavelengths may vary. The primary challenges are fruit occlusion, light variability, peel color variation with maturity, range to target, and computational requirements of image processing algorithms. There are four major development tasks in original three-year proposed study. First, s

Similar to most metering technologies, turbine meters are known to be affected by abnormal flow or abnormal mechanical conditions which can cause bias in flow measurement. These types of flow conditions include blockage at the flow meter or straightening vanes, grime or liquid contamination on the internal meter components, damage to the internal meter components, and pulsation in the flow. With the introduction of ultrasonic and Coriolis meters for gas applications, the natural gas industry has embraced the concept of meters with embedded diagnostic capabilities.
