Shape-memory alloys are a new class of functional materials with a peculiar property known as shape memory effect. These alloys have an ability to recover a particular shape. The origin of this phenomenon lies in the fact that the material changes its internal crystalline structure with changing temperature. Copper based ternary alloys exhibit shape memory effect in metastable - phase field. These alloys undergo two ordered transitions on cooling, and bcc structures turn into B2(CsCl) or DO3(Fe3Al) -type ordered structures. Specifically, upon tensile loading and unloading, these wires can recover elongations of up to 50%, well beyond the recoverable strains of 5-8% typical for most bulk shape memory alloys. This method could provide an alternative choice for the nickel-titanium shape memory alloy wire to reduce the spring-back in V-bending process due to the creep effect. In this study, the influences of forming temperatures and process time on spring-back were studied. Furthermore, experiment was carried out to verify with the finite element analysis results. The polyurethanes with reactive pendent azetidine-2,4-dione groups were further crosslinked by short-chain aliphatic diamine or modified by silane coupling agent (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane; APS) following by a sol-gel reaction to bring about Si–O–Si crosslinked organic/inorganic hybrid polyurethanes with shape memory function. After undergoing solution treatments at various temperatures, SMA wires were formed at room temperature into different curvatures. Subsequently, the SMA wires were subjected to aging treatments at different temperatures. The springback of SMA wires was examined after forming and after aging. A reverse bending tests were used to exp
