Suicide notes are generally written on readily available materials, such as paper, notebook, wall or mirror by means of pen, pencil, marker or chalk. They can also be communicated by telephone, text messages, internet and digital media. A case has been reported where a note was written with henna. Suicide notes written on one’s body are uncommon, and notes engraved on the body with a sharp metallic object are extremely rare. We present two cases where a sharp pointed metallic object was used to write suicide notes on the body.

It is shown that in ferromagnetic films with anisotropy inhomogeneous in thickness, an interphase boundary can be formed for certain values and directions of the magnetic field. This boundary has a stable magnetic configuration. It is oriented parallel to the film plane and separates the regions with different orientations of the magnetization. In an alternating magnetic field, the interphase boundary oscillates, which may be accompanied by a resonance. The field and frequency dependences of the components of the magnetic susceptibility tensor are determined. It is shown that the susceptibilit

These have sharp, pointed incisors and canines for capturing prey, followed by sharp-crested premolar and molar teeth. Abstract Sharps and flats appear early in the history of notation. An accidental does not signify a note, but a change of context. Weather forecasting depicts the approach of a warm or cold front respectively by rounded and pointed symbols. Sharps and flats (the words in French and German also have ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ connotations) are similarly changes in the air. Listeners are not supposed to hear sharps and flats. They are a visual concept arising from the fact that notation establishes a pitch regime within which a music is played. Corrections to a given regime arise when the ear is allowed

Abstract Piping systems are incorrectly designed when subjected to fatigue, and coatings are applied by preparing surfaces with grit blasting. Grit blasting is used on coated pipelines and steel structures to improve coating adherence, but this technique reduces the fatigue strength of in-service piping and structures. Grit blasting creates jagged peaks and valleys, or stress raisers, on metal surfaces, and at each of these sharp pointed valleys, the probability of crack initiation increases, where embedded shards of sand reduce the fatigue strength of metals to accelerate failures.
