There exist myriad project management methodologies, but none is focused solely on scientific research. Research projects are unique compared to other types of projects, including software development, manufacturing, and drug trials; research projects inherently have unplanned risks. These risks provide a challenge to managing resources, developing schedules, and providing team ownership while still achieving project goals. To help mitigate the risks and the challenges associated with scientific research, a methodology to manage research projects needs to be developed.

TRAZAR program (from traceability in English) is a very successful example of the application of ICT methods in rural areas to increase the efficiency and potentialities of small/medium-scale cattle farmers. This program took place in Santa Fe province, Argentina, between 2004 and 2006 and consisted of using ICT to track the production cycle of cow herds. TRAZAR is a software that stores all the information related to the identified animals and can be accessed and managed through the internet by its users. Using an online survey that was completed by 58 persons from around the globe, the gaps have been identified in knowledge and operational expectations of coatings presently in service, as well as of coatings that may be under consideration for future service. A database of about 500 references on pipeline coatings has been developed in Reference Manager(R) based on published literature and on a search of records. In order to facilitate transfer of data from Reference Manager(R) to MS ACCESS(R), another widely used software package, a program has been written using Visual Basic. Using this prog

The aim of the project was to provide a computer software to help students to become better in solving math word problems. The approach is to use the software to guide the students to solve word problems in a systematic and structural way while providing enough scaffolds and helps when required. Also, when students cannot solve it correctly, it will pose a simpler yet similar problem for students to attempt. The process of posing simpler problems would allow the students to continue looking at and thinking of solving the problem instead of giving up. Although there was a long delay in hiring t

The continued growth of air travel calls for the incessant construction effort at many airports and their surroundings. Thus, there is a need to determine how airports can better manage existing infrastructure to accommodate this growth. This study, therefore, focuses on (1) investigating how changes in transportation infrastructure have affected travel time reliability (TTR) of the surrounding road network within the airport vicinity over time, and, (2) exploring selected unconventional intersection designs and proposing new inbound/outbound access routes from the nearby major roads to the ai

The rapid development of information technologies is transforming how data and information are produced, shared, exchanged, and managed. This transformation is accelerating in state departments of transportation (DOTs) across the country due to the pressing need for efficient means of delivering transportation projects and an enhanced need for internal and external collaboration. A key driver for this transformation is the implementation of Building Information Modeling for Infrastructures (BIM4I). The primary objective of this research was to develop actionable recommendations for DOTs to fac
