L'objectif de cette thèse était d'une part d'identifier les motifs d'abandon chez les handballeuses et les basketteuses syriennes et de tester d'autre part trois modèles théoriques qui expliquent l'abandon sportif. Une première étude (N = 402) s'est attachée à identifier les motifs d'abandon chez ces joueuses. Les résultats ont montré que les joueuses estiment que certains motifs (e.g., tomber enceinte, avoir un mari qui ne permet plus à sa femme de faire du sport) sont très importants pour abandonner le sport.
