L'objectif de cette thèse était d'une part d'identifier les motifs d'abandon chez les handballeuses et les basketteuses syriennes et de tester d'autre part trois modèles théoriques qui expliquent l'abandon sportif. Une première étude (N = 402) s'est attachée à identifier les motifs d'abandon chez ces joueuses.
