This study examined why theft of petrified wood at Petrified Forest National Park occurred and how designed interventions worked to inhibit the performance of that behavior. This evaluation was based on semi-structured interviews with observed thieves and non-thieves. Subjective responses revealed that theft was not a thoughtless act, but instead occurred because thieves rationalized that their particular act of theft was acceptable. The primary rationalization given by thieves was that their piece of stolen wood was so small that taking it would not hurt anything. It appeared as though anti-t

DNA markers are currently the most precise tool for forest tree species identification and can be used for comparative analyses of plant material. Molecular diagnosis of evidence and reference material is based on comparing the structure of DNA markers duplicated in the PCR reaction and estimation of the DNA profiles obtained in studied wood samples. For this purpose, the microsatellite DNA markers are the most suitable tool because of their high polymorphism and accurate detection of structural changes in the genome. One of the main drawbacks of Global Navigation Satellite Sytems (GNSS) is that they do not work indoors. When inside, there is often no direct line from the satellite signals to the device and the ultra high frequency (UHF) used is blocked by thick, solid materials such as brick, metal, stone or wood. In this paper, we describe a solution based on the Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) technology to geolocalise vehicles indoors. Fungal growth was observed on the interiors of wooden spools and corrosion was most severe on the wrap of wire in direct contact with the wood. Abstract:
This publication provides the results of a case study on the construction sector transformation process triggered by the emergence of wood-based construction in Sweden and Finland, particularly of multi-storey buildings. The case reconstructs the micro-processes leading to innovations and breakthroughs in the market.

Full text
Abstract:
The red necked longicorn (RNL), Aromia bungii (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), originates from eastern Asia and has become an invasive pest in Japan, Germany and Italy. Predominantly attacking stone fruit trees (Prunus spp.), RNL larvae tunnel within the cambium layer, disrupting sap flow and potentially killing the host tree. The pest poses a significant threat to both fruit production and wood production. It is considered a quarantine species in Europe, capable of spreading through wood products and plants for planting. There has been no classical biological control implemented against RNL. Howev
